The Birth of Ford Young

After the long engagement, the small wedding, and then relocation, the first generation Ironsides grew by one more member on the East Continent. On the 7th of December 1009, in Oligarch, Lady Cerise gave birth to Lord Armstrong’s first son. The boy was named after Armstrong’s famous grandfather, Ford. In the family, the great grandfather reserves the name Ford, while the newborn is known as Ford the Younger (or Ford Young for short).

The Birth of Armstrong's First Son

While marching through Dale back to the capital city, Lord Armstrong received an urgent letter from his wife.

Dearest Love, you must be informed of the miraculous news! Our baby is born this night, and it is a glorious boy!

Our son’s entrance into life was auspicious. After the expected pain and agony, and as the baby exited my womb the nurse noticed a strange phenomenon. On this night, when the moon should have been near fully waxed, the nurse and many other witnesses saw it full! Your uncle Soren was with me and said it was an omen. This is no fantasy, my love. Our son was born on a full moon when the moon should not have been full. Gentle Soren brought the facts to an augur whom he knew outside of the city and she interpreted the event. She says “the boy will grow up to be great. In what way is unsure, but this omen reveals that despite natural forces the boy will brighten darkness.” How extraordinary!

You must also know that your uncle and I have decided to name our firstborn son after your grandfather, Ford. Though he says that since the name is reserved for any speak of your famous progenitor the boy should rightly be recognized as Ford the Younger.

Armstrong was quietly overjoyed at the news. He then commanded the Roughnecks to march double time to Oligarch so he may meet his son and love his wife. They rejoiced at the announcement and threw Armstrong a lively celebration in a hall in Dale.
