Carnage of Commonyr

It was a battle that was not supposed to happen. The armies of Westmoor were ordered back to Oligarch but a group of slower and preoccupied forces remained, only five thousand combat strength. Armstrong, Defender of the Crown, Grandmaster Paladin of Humanity, was one of those forces. At dawn's first light he was awoken in his tent to the shouts of alarm. Scrambling in the way that drill and experience burned in him, he armed and armoured and then rallied his unit to the field. Enemy forces had arrived, but they were on the defense. The forces of Westmoor were not supposed to be there. Now they had no way to get out.

"Rally men! If we can't walk around them then we will fight them!" Armstrong commanded. He saw the other nobles gathering their units together. Everyone had the same idea.

Sirion and Nivemus knights were already prepared and fielded a combined force of twenty-two and a half thousand combat strength. They knew Westmoor was going to attack. There was no other choice. Dawn's light became morning. In full daylight the battle began!

Archer fire was followed by infantry waves.

During the first onslaught, a knight shouted across the carnage to Armstrong, "The Fuor brothers have been wounded!"

"Damn!" Roared Armstrong as he cleaved and slayed his foes.

The sun rose ever higher into sky as morning turned closer to noon.

Another shout from the Westmoorian ranks, "Lord Maliki wounded a Sirionese! He got one!"

A cheer went up invigorating the ranks.

The sun dipped past its peak and began to wane. Light approached evening when another call electrified the swords in field, but it was a cry of anguish, of misery.

"Lord Keltin has been slain! Marshal Verdun of Sirion reaped him!"

Anger! Fury! Bloodshed! Armstrong stole a personal vengeance by butchering every foe in his immediate reach. But he did not just slay them, he tortured them by hacking off their bits first and then finishing them.

Twilight hour robbed the forces of Westmoor of any more light. It was getting too dark to continue. They had lost a great deal of men already and were outnumbered. It was time to retreat.

"Retreat! The battle is lost!" A command went out to the field.

Head lowered in shame, Armstrong sought out the corpse of Lord Keltin, a brother Paladin. News reached him that Sir Deklan was removed from the field safely.

But Keltin...

Glory Be

After Lord Keltin fell in battle, Lord Armstrong spoke with and challenged Lord Verdun Alumaani to a duel to the death. On the day of Lord Keltin's funeral, on the same battlefield in Commonyr where he fell, Armstrong and Verdun clashed...

Hero buried

Verdun Alumaani, Count of Glinmar, Marshal of Army of Sirion meets his challenger Armstrong Ironsides, Earl of Morshes, Marshal of Royal Guard of Westmoor for the agreed duel till death.
Armstrong has decided to use the 'overrun' strategy while Verdun has chosen the 'aggressive' strategy, giving Armstrong the advantage.
The duel goes as planned, then badly for Verdun. He suffers several slight wounds, then a final, fatal blow. The healers hurry, but they are too late.
