One of the four (known) bastards sired by Johann during various campaigns, Baldhart was raised in Moyale. At the age of fifteen, shortly after the fall of Moyale to Ibladesh, a messenger arrived at Baldhart's family home and shortly thereafter he was spirited away to Aix and sent by ship to Beluterra, the realm of Plergoth, where he served as a soldier in the Companies of various Lords until the age of 21, when he deserted after a disastrous, bloody, stupid defeat at the hands of Vlandeeren. Feeling to Avalaon, Baldhart met up with the man Danost, and together the two eeked out a living as hunters, rangers and merchants until being caught up in the third invasion.
