Description
Hidale, the Gateway to Cagil City, is a rural area with strategic significance. The ancient highways that run between the cities of Calis, Cagil and Eaglin intersect here. It also borders no less than five regions. Trawiy guards the other side of the eastern bridge across the Eaglin River whilst Ravening holds the southern one. Lamoni provides an alternative path to the Drachenwald mountains. Strahan is the nearby bread basket and of course the city of Cagil.
None may approach Cagil City without going through Hidale first. Conversely, if Hidale is to be taken, then Cagil could be starved to submission.
Being located on flat plains on the western bank of the Eaglin River, most of the land in Hidale are dedicated to farming. There is also some fishing along the river. Hunting is strictly limited to small game that could be found in the more remote areas not cleared for farming.
A variety of crops are grown, but wheat is the most prevalent. It is also the region's major export. Recently a few farms have been converted to ranches. The plentiful wheat from the region helps feed not only Cagil, but also a burgeoning war horse industry.
