Monsters in Watersdown

August 1

While the main army of Heenites are out in Sint, working on ways to destroy the Daimons, it has left some of the lands to become infested. Either the adventurers are being less effective, or this invasion is just causing more friction betwene the monsters, but it seems that the desert lands have been awash with small monster groups rebelling from the main ones.

A particularly stubborn group have been munching away in Watersdown for over a day. This evening, Attila and Fror rode and marched into the desert, searching for the group. Hearing their noises first, Attila charged ahead as Fror set his men at a quick run.

In the brief scuffle that followed, 6 of the 14 monsters lay dead on the sands, but it was at heavy cost to the Heenites, for they suffered numerous casualties, and line settings have been improved for the cleanup job in the morning.

Monster Battles

August 3

For over 3 days now, monsters have been rampaging in the region of Watersdown. Claims by the misguided undead general (if he can be so called) that the Heenite nobles had been placing militia in their cities are an absolute lie. We do not have the forces at home to take out a small monster group eating our peasants or gold to support the guards.

All Heenite forces able to, moved up into Sint to help battle the Daimons, and as such, this small group has been hounding the population of Watersdown too long. However, since a new undead threat (explained in the following article) and a loss in Porl, the Heenites are returning, so the monsters should be dealt with soon.

Another battle took place in Watto this evening, such a popular place for battles that region. This time, a monster group attacked some undead leaders in an attempt to delay their progress into Heen lands. There was no news of any leader casualties.

Undead At It Again

August 3

Word has been announced the undead are going to come back and sample more of the Heenite's dlightful cooking, and as payment for our hard work and determination, they will destroy yet more of our loyal peasants. Rather than send their forces rumoured to number over 50k in strength Northwards to tackle the Daimons, they'd much rather put personal vendetta's to rights by marching back to Heen for another round of "kill the camel" for fun.

The undead have stopped pretending that they are doing this for humanity, and have actually owned up to doing it because they want to. It is not a secret that Queen Martana and High Marshal Thrydwulf have been the brunt of many harsh words from the mouths of the undead leaders. Noteably the force ex-general Hannibal, who's head now is skewered to a pike outside Heen City. His sucessor, Sarge has just the same foul ideas and discriminations against the desert folks.

It has also been brought to the attention of the generals of Beluaterra that Valentia is also being pillaged by undead hordes. Valentia have so far not allied themselves with either the monsters or undead. In light of all this, Queen Martana wrote to all the rulers of Beluaterra. The letter is on the following insert: Queen's Query.

In light of this information, the Heenite Highlights has decided to publish any important messages regarding the destruction of their lands they can find. Most of this involves either the Queen or the High Marshall.

Seamus' Birthday

August 20

Today was the birthday of the Celt Seamus, of the O'Deagheidh clan. The celebrations were led by his brother Erin, and his music was a source of great enjoyment all night. The Celts certainly know how to party hard, and danced well into the night. The party occurred in Rilo's Tap, a boisterious inn which suited this type of occasion perfectly. It was attended by many people, noble and commoner alike, as the Celts are not about to let a party get ruined by something like birthright. The most notable nobles to attend were Thrydwulf Grancourt, High Marshall of Heen, and Alana Baraedor, Marshall of the Scarlet Mamluks. Here are their experiences of the night.

Tournament in Reeds

August 23

Nine days ago, Vlaanderen announced a beacon of light in the dark times that have struck Beluaterra since the invasion. A Tournament of swordfight and joust was to be held in the grand city of Reeds, the Capital of Vlaanderen. With an entrance fee of 20 gold and a prize of 300 gold, it didn't look like many nobles would turn up. However, with the Undead and Daimons gone from the realm of Heen, and the regions looking much better, a few of the Heenites decided that they would attend. Thrydwulf, Kagurati, Jadine, Joan and Malerion were 5 of the 41 nobles who wanted to test their luck in the upcoming contest.

The nobles started their bouts in the early hours of the morning. Although, it seemed like the first round of the swords had been planned all along. Four of the Heenites were pitted against each other, dwindling their numbers to 3 for the second round.

Joan, Baroness of Apokh managed to get the furthest in the Swords, reaching the quarter finals. She also did rather well in the Joust. The High Marshal Thrydwulf managed to surpass her and was only to be defeated in the final by the tournament champion. The full results can be found here: Tournament in Reeds
