Hanging Up the Pen

(Beatrice has been one of Heen's main Bureaucrats for some time now. But the regions she is in charge of have not needed much work recently, and with the undead invasion apparently real, she has decided to take up the sword again and renew her capabilities).

The Time for Fighting

I have decided that i have been working the papers for far too long. My hands are tired of holding a quill, and the ink has stained my fingers a dark blue. I will have to wait for the skin to fall off due to age before they return to normal.

So, it is time that i held a sword again. Heen currently has 4 Bureaucrats (including myself), and this is more than enough. I haven't done any work in the last couple of weeks within the regions i was supposed to look after, they are more or less self-sufficient. I have been training some of the mentors at the acedemy as they now recognise my skill is far greater than theirs, and even though i am a woman, they see my skills as a valuable asset - so that more people will benefit from their teachings.

It certainly has been a while since i wielded my sword, but i have not forgotten how to use it. I have spent many nights practising with the blade while travelling from region to region. I still class myself as fairly adept, and wsh to join in our defence of this continent from the undead and monster scum that seem to think they own it.

I also miss the company of a group of soldiers to train with. The last men I commanded have been doing a great job in Kif. I have had no problems with the region for a long time now, indeed the locals seem to have gotten very friendly with the group of men i dropped there some time ago. So, I will wait here for taxes, and recruit a unit. Although, If you wish me to train a unit for militia purposes then I would be glad to do that also.

The time has come to fight, and i do not think undead believe that the pen is mightier than the sword...

Beatrice Gets Angry

(Duke Kagurati also decided that he would fight against the undead instead of continue to be a Bureaucrat, and this made Beatrice angry, as he has done it many times before when Beatrice wanted to become a Knight. After giving up her wish many times, this time she could not hold her tongue...)

Duke Kagurati. Do you plan on making my life as bad as my dreams have been of late?

Why do you insist on changing from being a bureaucrat to becoming a fighter for the realm so often. I gave my reasons for changing my class, and the fact that I have been a Bureau for so long, yet you just seem to drop your pen without so much of a word.

I am annoyed because if i had known you were to do this, then i would have kept my pen, saved my writing hand some ink on the letter to you all and not got my hopes up for some battles after a long long time...

Do you feel bad at all for making this selfish decision? I am aware that it is YOUR choice as to how you conduct yourself within the realm of Heen, and indeed in your life as a noble, and that nobody can force you to become something you don't want to be. But at all in your life do you consider anyone else but yourself? Give a woman a break.

If the realm so wishes, I will pick the pens back up at the most appropriate oportunity. I will just have to revisit the kind gentlemen in Heen and have him decommission my request to join the army again, and also head to the penmakers shop to buy myself a new quill...the last one was thrown somewhere in the fire in my exhultation at the thought of becoming a Knight once more.

Kagurati, you have disappointed me this day.
