Organisation of the military hierarchy

Responsibilities and expectations of the General

  1. - Should set up rules of engagements for the armies
  2. - Should enforce debate and discussion within the military council
    1. - Long term strategy (3 months)
      1. - Should provide the overal goal to be achieved within the next 3 months
      2. - Should detail the most likely scenarios to occur within the next 3 months
      3. - Should draft initial thoughts on possible reactions in each of these scenarios
    2. Short term strategy (1-2 weeks)
      1. - Should provide his initial thoughts on the goal for the next campaign (but allow for subsequent discussion to evolve it if needed)
      2. - Should provide expectations on where the enemy forces will be (when did they go on refit etc) and when they should be expected
      3. - Should provide several likely scenarios to occur within the next campaign (E.g. seeing an early vanguard incoming vs a larger army moving as one)
      4. - Should draft initial thoughts on reactions to each of these scenarios
  3. - Ensure cooperation for the realm's council and richest nobles in the war effort to ensure the Marshals receive the support the need

Responsibilities and expectations of the marshals

  1. - Orders should be given twice-daily (Ooc, every turn)
  2. - Orders should be given within 4 hours after sunset and sunrise (preferably sooner)
  3. - Marshals should contribute to the discussions in the military council, even if it is only professing approval of an already proposed idea
  4. - Marshals should engage with the nobles in their armies in an encouraging manner rather than punitive (unless excessive misbehavior occurs)
    1. To ensure funding is well balanced (some people do not request gold and walk around with small units, others keep requesting excessive amounts at times)
    2. To ensure orders are followed (some have tendencies to miss orders after either sunrise or sunset, it is good to be aware of this)
    3. To ensure settings are deployed correct (changing settings is a matter of discipline and getting used to it and wrong settings often lead to more casualties. Positively encourgae the nobility that you do not wish to see them suffer due to wrong settings).
    4. To know if people are low on provision or gold for payment

Responsibilities and expectations of the nobility serving in the armies

  1. - If you have questions concerning anything, do ask them
  2. - Follow the orders of the Marshal, even when in disagreement. Nothing can be as devestating as not moving together to battle as a whole
  3. - After every order, check your formation and unit settings
  4. - Do not act, or loot, before orders have been given every sunrise and sunset or risk being left behind.
