Character History Timeline

Early Years

Isana was the eldest child in a large family. She did not want for anything in her youth, save perhaps, proper recognition. Her brother Elios, eldest son of the family, was her parents' golden child, expected to inherit the manor and lordship. Isana was not denied the opportunity to take martial training alongside the family's militia--she even had a knack for it--but it was always assumed she would wed and take up the quiet life, not be a competitor for knighthood.

This assumption was picked up on by her brother, who used it as fodder to pick on his elder sister when other eyes were not upon them. He would take advantage of her good nature to trick her into falling into swamps or getting lost while trying to help the younger ones, all to lower her status in the eyes of their elders.

Throughout her youth, Isana had a skill for finding the sunny side of any situation. Despite being picked on and disapproved of, or perhaps because of it, she learned to look for the next positive step to take, and go that way, not looking back. She studied histories and skills that interested her, and took on the training of her younger siblings to keep busy and learning.

A New Horizon

With her 26th birthday looming, Isana decided to make her way as a knight in a new continent rather than be labeled a spinster in her family's estate on Beluaterra. She had long been in charge of training the new recruits, so none could doubt her skill and capability. The only resistance to her knighting was a quiet, wistful look from her mother. Her father and brothers near caused a parade in celebration. Whether that was for another knight in the family, or that she was leaving, none looked too closely.

Her father bestowed upon her a family heirloom to carry to the chosen new home overseas: a dueling sabre, with small semi-precious stones in the family's colours of white and green set into its handguard, ornate with twisting leaves and wrapped with gilt. Although is always an archer primarily, she carries and uses the sabre with pride.

Relationships

Alyssa Kingsley
Sky to the Dawnstar, love of Isana's life. There is much to be said about these two, however it is better learned through reading the stories below...

Dustiria Noire
Fellow knight and eventually Judge of Perdan. Dustiria became a friend of Isana's shortly after Isana's arrival in Perdan. The two women shared common grounds of friendship with Alyssa, devotion to Perdan, high standards of combat excellence, and the penchant to let their hair down and party at the Bloody Stump. Isana is distressed by the abrupt disappearance of her friend without any trace and asks if any have seen her when she travels the countryside and outside Perdan. After the tense event with the case of Apollyon Daubeny's arson of the city, she is concerned that darker forces may be at work.

Kenneth MacArbin
Lord Bescanon Isana seeks out Kenneth as a trusted advisor in matters of courtly conduct, as well as a partner in mischief and grand plots (such as the covert expansion of the Bloody Stump in Bescanon to include a fine royal suite and garden plaza to be a surprise for Alyssa one day). They met originally through Dustiria but their friendship grew beyond this association.

Oliver Laststar
A young knight newer to the ranks of Perdan's nobility than herself. Isana met Oliver on the tournament grounds in Sirion when the knight had the misfortune to fall in the mud on warmup.

Milieu (NPCs)

Henrik Heinz
First Captain of the Everlight Stormfront. A solid soldier with short dark curls and a ruddy complexion. He served with the Lady Everlight from the day she set foot on the continent until his untimely demise in the war against Perleone. He got along very well with the lady, for he was professional with a quirky sense of humour and fun. He wore jesters' slippers in the Everlight family colours around the mess hall when they were at home in the barracks.

Cedric Heinz
Squire to Lady Isana, younger brother of Henrik. Quite young when taken on as a Page, lanky, with the body and cracking voice of one who was in the midst of growth spurts, he has become a sturdy if spindly teen with mousy brown curls and a sweet face. While still given to boyish bouts of fancy, he is a constant study of proper manners and dignity. His loyalty and devotion to his Lady are absolute. He is also a fair hand at some of the more delicate arts suitable to being a Lady's page, such as braiding hair and arranging flowers.

Dani
Head Healer, older woman who came with Isana from the north of Beluaterra. Very tall, nearly 2m/6'4" in height. Her fair features and pale hair appear almost spectral. Her appearance made for an interesting experience when she brought soldiers back from the brink, only to have them think she was an angel come to take their souls Beyond.

Bertram
Long-serving soldier in the Stormfront ranks. A trusted older military man often serving personal guard duty outside the Lady's tent. A heavier-set gent with salted brown hair and short beard. Very fond of the Bloody Stump.

Lucian
Softhearted and very devoted former page/trainee of Isana. He travelled with her from Beluaterra to Perdan City in the East Continent, then returned home.

Gillian Gisbert
Newest Captain of the Royal Everlight Stormfront. Young, freckled, of average height and powerful build, and with reddish-brown poker-straight hair. She has pale green eyes flecked with dark, commonly wide open in an expression that appears naive or startled. A lady of few words, she is focused on service and being worthy of her lofty position, despite her relative inexperience leading to some misjudgments.
