The Siege of Valkyrja

Facts for this article were collected from reports and through interviews. I wish to thank the cooperation of Grandmaster Bustoarsenzio Peristaltico, a Master of History, and to former Mistress Haruka Vanimedle', and former Arkh-Kommandant Sextus Severus of the Scipii.

One year after the Conquest of Thulsoma, Astroacratic forces triumph again with the greatest siege ever seen on Dwilight to date. In the Spring of 14 YD after a season of planning, the armies of the Morek Empire, the Libero Empire, Corsanctum and Astrum launched their siege on Valkyrja. In short time Summerdale characteristically declared war on Averoth and joined the siege. The very first battle saw over thirty one hundred soldiers attack under fifteen hundred defenders. The second peak of the siege saw thirty two hundred attackers versus six hundred and forty defenders. These figures of course are the amount of men involved in the siege, not amount of nobles commanding those units.

Severe casualties were recorded for the Averothians, including the eradication of peasant militias. The Averothian heroes Sir Phil Drake, Sir Alex Coulton Hoxcroft and Sir Danimsir Azul were killed during the epic combat.

The battles leave the stronghold capital utterly ruined. Its fortifications leveled, its peasants massacred, its nobles defeated. Near the end of the season the city revolted from Averothian rule and after Summerdale conquered their last region of Yggdramir the realm of Averoth was destroyed.

This is a major victory for the Astromancer Hegemony, publicly known as the Brotherhood of Astroacracies, and a crushing defeat for the League of Free Nations. Only the Duil Corridor front is still active in the League’s fight against Astromancy, and so far it seems the Brotherhood is holding the frontline solid. I am unsure what will happen to the Averothians and the Saxons now that their northern frontline has collapsed. Perhaps they will drift to Caerwyn and continue the fight there, or, perhaps they will accept their defeat and find other places where the conflict is not waging. As for the coalition stationed in High Toprak, unless they learn a way to reach Caerwyn or Madina their activity in this war will diminish.

Bowie Ironsides,
