The Protocols

Of Dueling

1. The lower rank must challenge the higher rank. If both are of the same rank, then it is to whomever sends the challenge first.

2. The challengers must arrange to meet in one of the Circuit's arenas (the nearest guildhouse). Any duel outside of our arenas will not count unless permission is given. Circumstance will allow for duels to occur outside of official arenas, but it is encouraged to use the facilities provided by the guild.

3. The combatants must first address their opponent with an introduction, and must receive an introduction in reply. Introductions include their name, rank, joining chapter, number of duels in total, number of victories, and attach any circuit championships. This is done to maintain the dignity of the duel, and to size up the opponents.

Ex. Greetings, I am The Sword, a Grandmaster of Qubel, 20/20, Champion of Circuit #0. It is a pleasure and a rare opportunity to duel with you.

4. The introductions, the location, and the result must be reported to the entire guild to be recognized.

5. Duels are counted for guild promotions.

For Circuits

1. Circuits can only be called by the elder ranks.

2. Circuits can only be held in our arenas. Any duels outside of our guildhouses will not count.

3. Circuits can only be arranged into suitable sizes. The least number of combatants acceptable is 4, followed by gradations of 8,16, etc. No uneven numbers. If there are five members of a chapter who wish to hold a circuit, one must sit out. A four member circuit is referred to as a first grade circuit, an eight member is a second grade circuit etc. A circuit of only Champions will be referred to as simply a Champion's Circuit no matter what the grade.

4. Elders must assign a number in sequential order to an official circuit. If circuits are occurring in the same time, they are still required to be numbered. This will allow for easier designations when the Champion is placed on the Wall.

5. It is encouraged that circuits are recorded by the elders and published in the guild wide journal as both an archival tool and as news for members. The publication should include all important information: type of circuit, location, date, participants, and the announcement of the Champion.

6. Circuits must follow the outlined structure in the Ordinances.

7. Duels in a circuit do not count towards guild promotions.

8. Rank is not an issue in circuits as combatants are arranged into brackets. It is permissible, however, to hold rank exclusive circuits. For example, some circuits may be only for advanced members of the guild. A Champion's Circuit may be called after so many circuits are completed.

9. The winner of the Overbout is announced Champion of the circuit. Nothing else will be awarded.
