Kraynor began suiting up for the upcoming battles, he had heard from the locals that there was a large bounty for the killing of monsters and that the monsters were a plenty. After all of his equipment had been secured he headed downstairs to the shop.

“Hey, Polarn do you know which way will lead me to the monsters?” Kraynor asked the shop owner he had come to trust when he visited.

“Most peoples been sayin' that they'd be in the southeast this time”

“In the Marshes of Kemp?”

“Aye unfortunately, and from what me been hearing they got one of those biggon's!”

“Oh, really.” Kraynor knew that that would mean more valuable items could be found and sold for large profits. “I can't wait!”

Polarn seeing the excitement in the young mans eyes was a little more than worried at the excitement in those often overconfident orbs. “Be careful, I don't want to have to go out and drag your half dead body back again...”

“Hey! That was a long time ago when all I had was a simple dagger and few survival tools!” He proclaimed showing off his new equipment. “This sword cuts through the monsters heads as though they weren't there.”

“OK, I'll see you when you get back!”

Heading out into the Marshes of Kemp, Kraynor could obviously see the signs of the monsters.

“I hate these marshes, I can never sneak up on the monsters.”

The lack of stealth would hurt his chances of gaining and early advantage but he wasn't afraid. Pulling out his sword and tightening his watertight boots and pants to protect his valuable armor, he waded in charging as fast as he could hoping to catch the monsters off guard.

After the first hour of searching he quickly dispatched a small group of monsters none of which were able to realize they were under attack until Kraynor's silver longsword had finished off the last of their group.

Two more hours passed and Kraynor found a slightly larger group and quickly dispatched with them as well.

In his third hour past the small groups Kraynor came across a small horde amongst a thicket of trees.

“This is perfect!” Kraynor muttered to himself.

He promptly started climbing the nearest tree and began setting up defenses. Jumping from tree to tree he placed them around the thicket to keep the monsters from fleeing. When he was done he started jumping trees toward the center and he spotted the leader. With huge fangs, and a size that dwarfed the seven foot monsters around him he would definitely be the biggest problem. He would need to be taken down first to keep those enormous fangs out of Kraynor's soft flesh. He tightened his grip around his sword Gibblon.

Quickly Kraynor saw his chance, the leader turned his back as he fought a subordinate of the meat of some dead creature that was better off not being identified. Leaping from his perch he sunk Gibblon deep into the back of the monster's neck. The monster immediately tried to pull the sword from the mortal wound in his back but it was too late and it collapsed into a pile at Kraynor's feet.

All the monsters around witnessed this and immediately began to flee in all directions. The monster who had been fighting with the leader was confused whether this stranger was here to help him or not but Kraynor quickly ended the confusion by chopping of the monsters head.

Looking up he saw his traps being set off by the multitudes of the monsters fleeing. Looking back down at the leader something caught his eyes, reaching into the folds of the monster's meager clothing he pulled out a book.

“Whats this?”

Yast's Tome of Necromancy

“This could definitely be worth something,” he said quickly tucking the book into his pack. Then the gruesome work began of collecting body parts to get reward money.

“You look excited!” Polarn shouted when he saw his friend returning from the marsh with a bounce in his step.

“I'll tell you about it after I get the reward!” Kraynor shouted back.

At the collection both setup in the north of town the soldier offered nineteen gold for the dead monsters. Holding the silver he headed beck for Polarn.

“So why are you so excited?”

“Look at this!” He said as he gingerly set the book down on the table.

“Nobles are going to be wanting this and will give almost anything for an item like this!”

“I know, first I think I'm going to take it and have a sage clean it up so it sells for more though”

“Good luck with that,” With that Kraynor went upstairs and began to contemplate what he would be doing tomorrow.
