He spoke of the virtues of honorable conflict, the nobility of strength and the indignity of weakness. He outlined the evil effect that peace and complacency have on the human heart, and outlined the cowardice of diplomacy and talk. He then commanded Phear to obey these tenets and enforce them upon all followers he controlled. Phear would later organize all the religious and moral imperatives given to him by Tor, and codify them into Toren law - even going so far as to record them on a great parchment which still survives to this day, and is known as the collected Directives of Toren Mountain.

  • Pursue the expanse of my word by way of the sword. If a people do not submit, destroy them.
  • Internal discontent is a vehicle of personal aspiration, and is nearly always counter to the will of Tor. Such rebellious ambition is condemned and punished by Tor - if not on earth, in the time beyond our passing. Followers of Tor should rise up and destroy any such narcissistic ambition - unless the issues behind the discontent are of an egregious nature that dishonors Tor.
  • Weakness is a symptom of cowardice. The weak exist to justify the strong. Do not cater to weakness, destroy it.
  • Peace fosters decadence and impurity. A people confident of their security become soft and weak and will destroy themselves. Do not fester in a state of peace.
  • Growth and evolution come due to pressure and fear. Threaten someone's security and they will have motivation to change. Mercy and compassion are for the weak - do not show them to your enemies.
