Introduction
Ghalen Dagoriad is a youngest son of Alexius who sailed off to the East in search of an adventure. He entered the waters of Far East continent and joined the Kingdom of C'thonia where he shortly served as a knight of the forest city Azros. Inspired by the tales of seafarers and merchants about the distant continent of Beluaterra and the grave danger the humanity there found themselves in, Ghalen jumped aboard on the overseas galleon and went forth to Beluaterra to protect the humanity from a massive daimonic invasion. Upon finally reaching those shores he joined the realm of Mesh eager to give his contribution in the apocalyptic atmosphere of those lands.
Appearance
As told by Heaphestus the Crooked:
"Ghalen indeed was not especially tall but rather broad, and yet his breadth was well proportioned to his height. When standing he did not strike the onlookers with such admiration, but if when sitting on the warhorse in front of his army, he shot forth the fierce splendour of his eyes, he seemed to be a blaze of lightning, such irresistible radiance shone from his face, nay from his whole person. He had black arched eyebrows, from beneath which his eyes darted a glance at once terrible and tender, so that from the gleam of his eyes, the radiance of his face, the dignified curve of his cheeks and the ruddy colour that suffused them, both awe and confidence were awakened. His broad shoulders, muscular arms, mighty chest, in fact his generally heroic appearance, evoked in the multitude the greatest admiration and pleasure. From his whole person emanated beauty and grace and dignity, and an unapproachable majesty. And if he entered into conversation and let loose his tongue, you would have realized from his first words that fiery eloquence dwelt on his lips."
Fighting Style
Ghalen rides a powerful mount almost all the time, except when he is eating, drinking or sleeping, or when he's visiting the court. In battle he wears a black, sturdy armor and a heroic two-handed sword, Redeemer, when fighting in close combat. The big sword is strong enough to break armor, but light enough to be quick. It is not sharpened, except for the first few inches from the tip; thick enough to avoid chips in the blade, but thin enough to cut when used with sufficient force. Although the two-handed sword is a highly offensive weapon, there are likewise some blocking techniques that Ghalen uses with it. The preferred way to block a strike is not to block, though, but to avoid it. Ducking, dodging and sidestepping are all part of Ghalen's technique. If blocking is done, the ideal is to block in such a way that it also became a counterattack. Ghalen also developed techniques to block and strike at the same time.
