The afternoon was picking up nicely Aewyn walked amongst the guess and made sure everyone was content and having a good time. It was rather hard to recognize everyone as most wore their masks and some had even made full costumes and that‘s what made this event even more fun. No one had recognized her so far and things seemed to be as exciting has she had hoped. She grabbed a glass of wine and asked the help to make sure that everyone had a glass, making her way slowly to the center of the garden she asked for everyone’s attention.

“Welcome and Thank you for coming” she sipped her wine “And a big thank you for participating in the costume contest” she smiled as the people clapped and smiled with her as she revealed her identity “This day is rather a special day for me, for my family, when I was little my folks used to hold this event every year near the end of fall. It was a traditional celebration passed down from generations to generations” she walked slowly across the grass smiling.

“Our ancestors back home called this day All Spirits Eve which can be traced back to our Ancient culture where the roots laid in the feast of Samhain which is The festival of remembrance for the dead, held on the eve of the last day of the three harvests. Samhain signifies "summers end" it was a harvest festival marking the end of the year and beginning of a new one.

My ancestors strongly believed that the souls of the dead roamed the streets and villages on this night, getting ready to depart this world for a new one and they celebrated this day by creating a huge bonfire to guide their way to the after life that will be lit later this eve, they ate, drank, sang and danced to celebrate those whom they held so close to their hearts. Their Heroes, the ones who fought by their side to their last breath”

“I decided that this year I would hold this family tradition here in Fontan, to honor my lineage and to invite you all to take part of this celebration with me. I invite you to eat, drink sing and dance to honor our brothers and sisters who have fought valiantly by our sides to their deaths” she paused and raised her glass “For our Heroes may your next life be as full and valiant as this life and may our harvest fill our warehouses to the roofs” she drank her glass empty

“There’s plenty to eat and drink, and the competitions will follow shortly” she grinned

“And to all the young children there’s plenty of hide and seek games, bobbing for apple, and finding hidden treasures for you this afternoon. There’s also pumpkins to carve” she laughed as the children left their parents without hearing the ending of her announcement. “Well I guess they’re ready to start” the people laughed

“Have fun my friends today is a day of celebration!“ the people cheered with their mugs and glasses and started to talk and walk around again. Aewyn walked towards the northern path of the garden to see who had gathered at the archers post to practice their shots.

Aewyn Onyxien Countess Of Braga

Armstrong heard the Lady Aewyn open the ceremony and was shocked of her costume. He saw the woman dressed in green and vines with red hair walk right past him before and he had said nothing to her. Now he felt guilty and embarrassed. How stupid of me! I will have to be more observant next time. And he began to walk slyly scanning the faces of the masked nobles.

Dodging some children running around him, he made his way to see more of the decorated estate. Wondering all the while who really was attending.

"I understand it is a costume party, but making it a requirement for entry? That's just a shade bit ridiculous, don't you think?"

Ramona stood outside the gates of Lady Aewyn's estate, staring down a guard who was obviously a "nose-to-the-grindstone" level of stubborn.

"No costume, no entry." He stated flatly.

His eyes showed a dangerous flash of irritation. Ramona thought for a moment, and then proceeded with caution.

"Well, is there any way I could just speak with her? Is there perhaps another guard available that could escort me?"

The guard squinted at her suspicously, and then, in what was obviously the nicest but still serious tone he could muster, he said, "I've never seen you before, your name doesn't ring any bells, and your not wearing a costume. Please remove yourself from the premises before I do it for you."

Ramona sighed in resignation. She had no intention to stand here and argue all night, and she certainly did not want to cause any disruption at Lady Aewyn's party.

Ramona couldn't win, and she knew it.

Ramona Valair Dame of Oligarch

Aewyn was making her way to the archer's competition when she suddenly caught a glimpse of a very large men dressed in black with a skull on his face. She smiled to herself and made her way towards him when one of the guards came to her discreetly.

"Lady Aewyn" he bowed "There's a Dame Ramona Valair at the entrance and it seems she's a bit irritated" he looked at her not sure what to do "What do you mean irritated?" she glanced back to see the dark man but he had vanished from sight "I mean she doesn't have a costume and wishes to enter" he said shrugging his shoulders "Very well tell her I will be there shortly" she turned around raising her head to see if she could see where the cloaked dark man hid but couldn't see him anywhere. She made her way down the hall to a small room.

Over in the corner of the room laid a box full of materials and masks she had fashioned in case someone hadn't had the time to make a costume. This was a war after all many were just getting off the field for refitting, she saw it to be fitting to provide her guest with masks in a time like this.

"Milady Ramona" Aewyn smiled "Have you lost your mask" she grinned and gave her a pick of colored masks to chose from "We have red, black, blue and green" she held them out in front of her guest "Excuse the feathers" she giggled fanning them out properly for her to pick one "You could hide your face, as many other guests are doing, Please come in enjoy the festivity" she moved back to let her in

"Thank you Stevens, but next time" she handed him a hand full of masks "If our guest have forgotten theirs please let them have their pick" she patted him on the back smiling and made her way back to her guests

Aewyn Onyxien Countess of Braga Fiona brought her cloak over her head and put on her black mask. Her long cloak came down to her ankles and was lined with a red silky fabric. Her lips were a vibrant red, and her eyes colored in a deep black to only reveal her green eyes through the mask. She wore a tight black dress with a red belt around her waist which slightly revealed the dagger Zadek had given her, since the day she received the gift she hadn't parted with it.

Making her way through the garden she laughed at the staff and servants walking around in their costumes. Even the children had been dressed, she looked beside her to find a little princess standing next to her and smiled.

"Hi" the little girl said looking up at her "What are you" she waited for Fiona to respond with a big grin on her face

Fiona smiled "I'm a.." she paused and bit the inside of her lip "I'm a witch" she giggled

"A witch" the little girl's eyes widened "Are you a good witch" she blinked

"Yes Of course, I keep little princesses safe" she grinned but before she could continue the little girl ran off with a what look to be a pirate and she laughed

"Now to find out where Zadek is and what he's wearing" she thought as she looked through the crowd. She may not have known what costume he was going to be in but she would surely recognize his smile through any masks.

Zadek pulled up to Lady Aewyn's estate in the coach with his sister Marshal KatalynFae and her husband Sir Jon Paul. He had found that Jon Paul was a likeable enough fellow, and by the smile on his sister's face, he must be good to her. He disliked riding in coaches, but being on horseback might be difficult for him in this costume. He looked to his golden "tail" and smiled. The gold material had a miriad of sequins sewn in and looked like the iridescent scales they were to represent. His mask was big enough only to cover his eyes and the slits were cut length ways instead of across, making it more difficult to see, but giving the definite effect of those of a dragon.

He and Jon Paul helped his sister alight the carriage, and he set off to find the only person in this place he wanted to see. He really wasn't good at crowds, but he would survive he was sure.

As he entered the gate, he spotted Alec. It wasn't too hard because the ladies were swarmed around Prince Charming.

Alec winked at him and pointed to the one he sought.

Hmmm a witch eh? Zadek thought to himself. Well that much was certainly true. She had bewitched him.

He walked over and laid his hand on her shoulder, "Dame Fiona," he said.

She turned and for a moment he thought she would hit him, then she recognized him. "Sir Zadek," she smiled.

"Shall we get some refreshment?" he asked. She took his arm and his hand closed over hers protectively. They moved through the crowd toward the food. He looked back and saw Alec wink at him and smile.

As Armstrong was strolling along he bumped into a gorgeous witch all in black except for the red hair and green eyes.

"Hello. Hello Milady, excuse my wandering eyes. I am after all, the He…uh, the Combateer! Do enjoy yourself."

All the while he was trying to figure out who was behind the mask. Unable to, he shrugged, smiled, and nodded. Thinking, Oh no! Who is this? Should I keep walking?...

Alec had wandered the estate, simply observing when he took notice of a woman arguing with the guard at the gate. Well this would be his chance indeed. He approached, the woman in question and tapped the guard on the shoulder. "You take your duty very seriously, very commendable," he winked to the lady standing at the doorway and gave her a dazzling smile. "She does not wear a mask, for her beauty is such that it would be utter shame to conceal it."

The guard cleared his throat and Alec leaned closer with a whisper. "Can't you see, she is a princess." The guard's eyebrow rose and he took a long look at the lady in question. She was dressed quite plainly and Alec laughed nervously taking her manner of dress in.

Suddenly Lady Aewyn herself arrived, saving them with a mask.

"Milady Ramona" Aewyn smiled "Have you lost your mask" she grinned and gave her a pick of colored masks to chose from "We have red, black, blue and green" she held them out in front of her guest "Excuse the feathers" she giggled fanning them out properly for her to pick one "You could hide your face, as many other guests are doing, Please come in enjoy the festivity" she moved back to let her in.

Alec watched as she examined the masks and pointed one out for her. "I think the red would do quite nicely," he drawled out and smiled, "Lady Ramona."

Alec McDowell Knight of Karbala

KatalynFae had smiled when she saw her brother's costume. A dragon, hmm it seemed to please Jon Paul though because it fit with the dream of the protector of Fontan he had told her of before their wedding. This would be the first time she and Jon Paul had been able to be together since their wedding in An Najaf and she was wanting to have him more to herself than share him with the rest of the nobles of Fontan. She smiled, maybe later she could have him all to herself.

He was dressed as a mighty barbarian warrior. He was in a kilt! He carried a large battle axe and had a helm with horns sprouting from the top. His helm hid all but his eyes and mouth. He certainly did not look like the one doing the administration work in someone's region right now.

KatalynFae had chosen to wear the most colorful skirt imaginable, bright reds, greens, oranges, and golds all in layer after layer and enough material that when she twirled the light silks flew out at the sides in a circle. She had made herself a black blouse low cut in the front and with sleeves that fell down her shoulders leaving them bare. In her hair was a tiara in the shape of a dragon's head and her arms jangled with jewelry. She thought of the wise women in her home of Aegir's Deep, some called them Gypsy...this is what they looked like. She had a mask that was made of brightly colored feathers around her eyes....and her bright red hair fell in a riot of curls down her back, and her green eyes sparkled through the mask.

They entered the estate and looked for Lady Aewyn, as they walked heads turned, taking in Jon Paul's kilt and her bright clothes.

Fiona grit her teeth together as she felt shoved forward, turning around she notice the Combateer and she smiled taking a long look at him her smile grew even bigger.

"Lord Armstrong!!" she bowed her head "Finally a pleasure to meet you" she grinned

Armstrong sat there looking at her not sure of who she was, he hadn't met Fiona in person yet but he would surely remember the women she had sent him.

Looking at her confused he apologized "I'm sorry Lady.." he paused waiting for her to say her name "Fiona" she winked "I'm sure you remember my gift not so long ago" she winked.

Still uncertain he frowned trying to remember.

"A blond, a brunette, and a red head" she winked again. Quickly brought back in thought at the answer she gave him he laughed "Lady Fiona!" he chuckled

"I am happy you could make it, nice costume my Lord" she smiled again. As Fiona and Armstrong were talking, a hand rested on her shoulders turning around she started to laugh as she notice a dragon standing behind her.

"Milord" recognizing the voice immediately, she looked deeper through the mask "What a wonderful costume" she continued to giggle. Zadek seemed to be a bit uncomfortable but you could tell by the tone in his voice he was smiling. Both men talked for a few minutes and Lady Aewyn started to make an announcement that got the crowds attention.

"Shall we get some refreshments" Zadek asked as Fiona "Yes of course" she reached for his arm "If you'll excuse me Lord Ar.." she paused "Sir Combateer" she winked as he smiled and nodded at her.
