Aewyn looked through piles of papers that spread across her desk trying to find the rules and request she had written down. “By the Gods where did I put those!!” she started to get frustrated. Moving her belongings to Braga just a few days ago she realized she needed to notify her guests that the event would not be taking place in Commonyr

“Ahh! Gotcha “ she smiled as she grabbed a small stack of folded papers “I knew I had put them here” she talked to herself looking for an ink jar

Making room at her desk she sat down and read through the rules and reviewed the prizes. She had just recently received a case of brandy from her father’s personal batch which was more then enough and had found things in a personal chest she had forgotten she had and thought the items would serve well as gifts to the winners. After she wrote everything down, she called in her chefs and her help to go over the foods and the decorations. They sat in the room silently and waited for her start giving her instructions.

“My family is sending in eight excess baskets of fruits and four of vegetables, I want you to take a basket of each and prepare trays for our guest. The rest preserve the fruits and vegetables for the estate. Also my mother’s garden has grown some monstrous pumpkins this year and was thoughtful enough to send 20 of them with the trip” she smiled

Looking over at Gabrielle “I want you to keep the seeds and carve out the pumpkins contents and make as least 10 pies. As for the seeds you will wash the excess fruit off then you will let them soak in salted water over night.

“For dinner we are having roasted pig” she looked at Edmond “Lady Katalynfae and Sir Jon Paul will send one this eve, so you will be able to clean it and have it ready to start roasting that morning. “Oh and stone bread, one large tray should do it” she nodded

She pointed over at two other ladies “You will make sure the hollowed pumpkins are washed and set aside, I plan on letting the children and guests carve a picture on them during the afternoon events. For the evening I want the pumpkins to have a candle lit in each of them. The carved pictures are so much nicer in the evening” she grinned. “So make sure you bring your children” she smiled

“I want decorations all around the garden, don’t be afraid to use everything you can get your hands on” I’m sure the previous lord must have plenty useful thing in the barn and warehouse. I want torches set everywhere lighting the garden, I want the trees decorated, the tables, everything!” looking at her help she went over every detail.

“Ohh! And you will all dress formally” she paused and thought for a moment, her lips curling into a smile “Better yet you will all dress as elves!” she laughed “I want you all to have pale skin, and find something to add point to your ears. I want you to grab some broken arrows and tie strings around them giving the guests the appearance that you have been shot. I want some sticking out of your chests, legs, head, arms” she laughed amused “Stain the entry wound with berries if you have to, but make it look as real as you can”

“As Lord Malfurion would say the only good elf is a dead elf” the servants started to look at each other “Don’t look so worried” she laughed “I will make sure to inform him that the elves here are to provide services” she paused and chuckled at them as they sat still unsure “There’s no need to worry people, It’s to make our guests laugh and enjoy themselves” she smiled reassuring them.

“All right the ladies will take the rest of the afternoon to make the costumes and the men will wait to unload the shipment” she stood up “Alright get to work, lets make this an event to remember” she clapped her hands together to get them back to their feet and on with their duties. Sitting back down at the table she smiled remembering how much fun she used to have at her families costume parties and thought it would be a great opportunity to share her family traditions with close friends in Fontan.

Aewyn Onyxien Countess Of Braga

Aewyn had just finished sowing her mask and she sat in her room going over her list to make sure nothing had been over looked. Gabrielle knocked at her door and entered the room bringing her a cup of hot tea and two jars of a dark creamy mixture.

“I hope the colors will blend well with the blond” she reached for her mistresses hair “But like I mentioned the other day milady this a long time for it to come out” she informed her again making sure she understood completely before putting it in her hair.

“Yes I’m very well aware you told me like three times now” she laughed at Gabrielle as they both walked out to the river for easier access to water

“First I will apply the light brown mix and wait until it colors the hair, then wash it out, after I will take long strands and apply the darker mixture to them giving the mixed color effect” Gabrielle reached over for a towel and wrapped it tightly around her neck pulling her long hair out

“Calm down Gabrielle it’s only hair” she smiled

“Yes Milady” she smiled and confidently started to apply the mix

After having colored and washed her hair twice they retuned to her room, Aewyn stood in front of the mirror smiling. Running her fingers through her long thick brown hair she admired the long vibrant reddish strands that mixed with the browns

“I must say that is definitely your color milady” Gabrielle commented please with her work

“A fine job indeed, this will work wonderfully with my costume” she looked over at the white dress that hung by her bed

“Now on to more important matters” she got up and sat by the servant on the sofa

“What have you all gotten done so far” she looked at Gabrielle and sipped on a new cup of tea

“All the fruits and vegetables have been cut, and Edmond has cleaned the pig so everything will be ready for the morning. The pumpkin seeds have been roasted and half of them have been wrapped in small bags as you asked” she waited

“Good, how are the decorations coming along?“ she looked at Gabrielle

“They are decorating right now” she nodded at Aewyn

“We have also found a few unused scarecrows in the warehouse. We stuffed them with more hay and we dressed them up. I had them placed in different areas of the garden” she smiled “We also found an old arch yesterday and I had James replace a few broken pieces, we arranged crawling vines and flowers all around it, and placed it at the entrance of the garden. It is quite lovely” she smiled

“And James’s son hoped that you would allow him to paint pictures of our guests at their request” she waited for Aewyn to reply

“That’s a fantastic idea” her eyes lit up “Tell him he can set his paint brushes by the arch I think the guest might like to get their picture drawn in costume” she gave Gabrielle a big smiled thrilled with the idea.

“Other then a few minor details I would say that everything has been taken care of milady” Gabrielle got up and cleared the small tea kettle off the table and looked over at Aewyn “If there’s nothing else milady I will return to make sure they don’t miss anything” she smiled

“Yes and make sure the guest room has been cleared and replaced with fresh linen, Fiona should be arriving shortly” she got up and walked to the table as Gabrielle excused herself

Aewyn Onyxien Countess of Braga

Arriving at Aewyn's new estate she quickly noticed that it wasn't as large as she had imagined it to be, but much bigger then what she was accustomed to. It was well hidden at the back surrounded by hundreds of trees, and what seemed to be at least two vineyards which brought a smile to her face. Making her way up to the house she noticed the multitude of servants and staff members busy at work around the grounds. Trees were being decorated, caravan's full of baskets were being unloaded and brought through the main hall every visible body was busy at work.

In the distance off to the side of the yard she stopped and laughed as she observed two men who were struggling with a pig. The creature ran about in different directions bringing them both down to their knees on more then one occasion as they tried to re-capture him. They ran aimlessly behind the poor the squealing animal, just as one of them got close enough, he lunged to grab the pig and found himself face first in a huge pile of mud, making him cuss at the animal. The other man looking more determined to catch him jumped over his fallen comrade, to find himself suffering the same fate only a few feet further. They didn't seem happy but it sure did bring a lot of laughter around the yard, as the other men and women laughed at their attempts.

She walked passed the staff without being noticed and entered the home. Walking passed the main hall, she went down a corridor filled with paintings of what she assumed had once been the local lords. Stopping she looked at one of the paintings where a beautiful lady sat straight faced, she giggled to herself and raised her head high, sucked in her cheeks and posed as the lady did in her picture.

"Are you posing?" a voice startled her "What?. NO! " Fiona turned around to find Aewyn standing there laughing at her. "I was mocking her" she quickly turned to face Aewyn "You were posing" Aewyn laughed "I saw you" she pointed her finger at her as she walked closer to give her a hug. "I knew you were going to show up at one point or another" she commented as she started to walk down the hall "Oh?" Fiona sounded surprised "How's that?" she asked raising a brow "Because I know you, and because there's vineyards here, which means there's a cellar, which means" she exaggerated her last word taking a breath "Fiona isn't far behind" she laughed looking at her "I even had a room set up for your arrival today" she winked as she opened the door to one of the guest rooms. "See" she waved her hand across the room "Just for you" she grinned.

Smiling, Fiona walked up to the bed and placed her bag down "Am I that predictable?" she blinked "No" Aewyn sat at the edge of the bed "I just know you" she stuck her tongue out teasingly at her. "I see you're busy with the preparations and the move" Fiona asked sitting next to her "Yes everything should be ready for the morning, Have you gotten yourself a date?" she leaned over towards Fiona giving her a shove with her shoulders "Actually I have!" she smiled

Aewyn waited for Fiona to give her a name but Fiona just sat there with a grin on her face. "Who??" Aewyn finally blurred out

"Sir Zadek Dragul" she smiled looking down at the floor almost blushing as the words passed her lips "Dragul uh?, isn't that Lady Katalynfae's brother or something?" she cocked her head "Yep, that's him" she looked up at Aewyn again "He's … very interesting you can say" she grinned

"Well I'm sure he is he's a Dragul!" she got up "I wish I could stay and chat cousin but I must get back to my duties there is still so much to do and if I'm going to enjoy myself at this costume party!" she headed towards the doorway "I'll see you at dinner" she gave a short wave and walked out.

Fiona laid back on the bed "I love this traditional holiday" she thought to herself. "And sir Zadek I will personally make sure you have fun tomorrow" she closed her eyes and took a small nap.
