Scratch-built Photoshop-made banner and crest for Morek

As a theocracy I drew the crest for Morek as this:

The shield: The armour of their faith, impenetrable, with the white cross the symbol of their purity.

The mailled fist: The symbol of enforcement, with the realm willing to defend itself and it's beliefs without question and with force if necessary.

Black background and golden Wreath: http://wiki.battlemaster.org/images/Schild3.jpg

EDIT: ADDED ICON: http://wiki.battlemaster.org/images/Klein_0000_Layer_2.jpg

The meaning:
Gold (Or) :Generosity and elevation of the mind
and Red :Warrior or martyr; Military strength and magnanimity
The Eagle: Person of noble nature, strength, bravery, and alertness; or one who is high-spirited, ingenious, quick-witted, and judicious. The open wings stand for protection.
The Helmet: denotes wisdom and security in defence; strength, protection, invulnerability. The open vizier stand for facing the enemy without fear, from man to man as a honourable and courages soldier.
The Wreath of laurel leaves: stands for Triumph.

It fits the best for Madina: Forests and hills are the home for the Eagle. Security and strength in defence (helmet) due to natural waterways and island. This defensive advantage gives protection (open wings) to those who live in the only republic.

psymann's Submission

http://www.hairywhale.co.uk/games/battlemaster/banner2.jpg http://www.hairywhale.co.uk/games/battlemaster/icon.png

This is specficially designed for Madina. Sadly I'm not the world's greatest artist, but I do my best, created by hand using some free-to-download paint program.

You will see that the banner is dominated by the island Madi, from which Madina gets its name. The island brings religion and prosperity to the realm (the gold coins and cross at the top).

The blue background signifies the sea, which, together with the hills and trees depicted, show the landscape for which Madina is known. Beneath the hill of Madi, in the sea, swim many of the native fish, which provide food to the realm - and it is said that when the fish population is strong, Madina is strong.

Finally, at the bottom, the hammer and weapon show that Madina is a strong and just republic that can fight to defend itself.

The icon is a mini-version of the banner, but in the form of a shield. Oh, and I hope I've got the right file format for the icon. Bigger version of the banner available if needed.

(Based off of the Celtic cross) A potential banner for the realm of Springdale.

Shape: Cross- The cross represents strength and durability, symbolic for the might of the realm’s cities and the centralized institution of the monarchy.

Circle- The circle’s position reinforces any weak points along the cross itself, indicative of the smaller towns and rural populations supporting the realm as a whole.

Colors: Silver- The streaks of silver are intended to show the wealth and opulence of the realm’s cities, as well as the polished gray walls of their powerful fortifications.

Green- The majority of green corresponds to the importance of the plains and grasslands the realm stands on, providing a foundation for further growth.

2nd Edit: added boarder to icons --Devercia 00:12, 29 August 2007 (CEST)

Original material, no suplementals used, scratch.

Pian, Was going for an earthy feel with muted orange as a contrast. the balls symbolizing the fruits of the nations efforts, the upper pattern symbolizing the ruggedness of the people.

http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc148/Devercia/Pian2-1.jpg http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc148/Devercia/Pianicon2.png

Madina I decided that patterns and multiple color combos would best creat the feel of a more urbane culture while still maintaining a rugged earthiness for the sake of the setting.

http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc148/Devercia/Madina2-1.jpg http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc148/Devercia/Madinaicon2.png

Morek: I wanted to make a fanatical looking banner, the three stars being some sort of divine symbol and the swords and "hands" at the bottom showing the fierocity of that faiths defence, also reflected in the colors.

jonno88's Submissions

Got more to come but this is my first, made by my self. All appropriate sources listed below the banner. This banner would suit all the realms (did this on purpose for vaguivity so it can go any where). It's a stone banner with a church like persona so it could fix it's self with a Monarchy (Castle/throne like), as well as a Religious banner (Church-like).

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b14/jonno88/1stdraft.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b14/jonno88/stoneicon.jpg

Heres the image I used for the pattern on the shield; [4] The dragon which is the focal point of my banner; [5] And this is the templace to get the right shape for my shield; [6]

Seccond banner, would suit Morek due to the Scroll, giving off the impression of a religious nature:

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b14/jonno88/scrollnsword.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b14/jonno88/logosmallf.jpg]

UPDATED MY LOGO

Only soures are; [7] It's the swords at the back of the banner. The scroll is made from scratch and the stand before it is an adaption of a photo I've taken.

I'll have logo versions of them both done for tommorrow, I have them saved in multiple different formats so it's easy to change the colour of the canvas, and I imagine the swords from my seccond banner wouldn't look very good in a low resolution picture so they can be easily removed. This also allows me to easily edit the images should any part of them be unsuitable.

The text is also written by me, I won't say what it says now but given the oppertunity it will be the basis of all the text and teachings in the religion of Morek (providing you find it suitable for Morek).

Usable for any of the realms, though I think it fits Springdale best. There's two options for icons there. The outline for the shield was taken from Giblot's banner.

Morek Banner.jpg

Morek Icon.png

I would say this is for Morek. The horizon of a setting sun, with a religious symbol. (The symbol was created by me, it doesn't really have any meaning. Left open for the one who wants to give it meaning.) Both banner and icon are hand drawn, scanned, and colored in with paint. Not very detailed, but it did it's job.

The icon is the symbol by itself.

Springdale Banner.jpg

Springdale Icon2.png

This banner could be used for either Springdale or Pian en Luries. A sword with a crown around the hilt to show the mighty king or queen's rule over his/her lands. Hand drawn like Morek's example.

The icon is a simple hawk, taken from [8]. It symbolizes a graceful, yet ambitous nature. The copied hawk picture was changed by me, but the picture was taken from the aforementioned website.

Oh yeah, not well drawn and not a good artist, but hey I gave it a shot.

MadinaTJ.jpg MedinaTJ-icon.png

This is my submission for Madina (and I apparently can't spell). There were no specified cultures so I decided to invent one so I could make a culturally relevant banner. The culture I made is a Matriarchal culture in which the ruling caste of women feel that warfare is a base activity and thus beneath them. They prize things like wisdom, ingenuity, and trade. The motto translates to "Beware the man of one book." ("man" being genderless). The various images I used came from the following sources: [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]

Any of the pieces can be changed, and I will likely have to make the wreath at the top lighter before it is used. --Tj

This is the Coat of Arms for Pian en Luries. The blue crests at the bottom represent the coast. The rust coloured mountains represent the badlands and mountains. The capital city is in the symbol of the white rook on the edge of the mountain. Extending from the water is the realm's protector, a serpent. He overlooks the realm's capital. Here is how the Shield version looks on the map:

View2.jpg

This is the Coat of Arms and the icon of Madina. The RP idea behind the Symbols: An unknown group of sailors got lost in a storm at see. When the storm was over, the morning sky was completely blue. For a whole day the sailors where slowly carried on by wind and by evening they where saved. There where the shores of Madina covered in a beautiful red orange glow created by the Setting sun behind them. The settlers decided to stay and from the very day they settled, they raised there flag. The colours Red and Green symbolize the extraordinary colorful view of this beautiful island. At day it is a perfectly green landscape, but in the evening when the sun sets, the hills are covered with a warm red glow stretching throughout the Scenery.

The Settlers are covered in secrecy about there origins. They are a strange bunch of men. Rumours say they trade in stolen stuff, jewelry, ale, fish, weapons, whatever.

The Madinian settlers are afraid to leave the island. On Land they stay close to home, close to a port. They only travel threw Sea. Rumours say that since there first land expedition to the west, the Madinians never left there island out of Fear of a Mythical creature luring in the Mountains. All we know is that the expedition group never returned but one Person, The leader of the bunch.... His name is Abbot the Acelet.

For Pien en Luries. The white castle caught between light and darkness. The gold border represetns sanctity as well as a warning about the dangers of corruption, and also a practical border.

For Morek, I tried a brown earthy theme but I couldn't get it to work, so I reverted to my earlier idea of red and black. I viewed Morek's religion as emphasizing hard work and farming, hence the sickle tied to the wheat.

For Madina, as a .jpg the ship was really blurry so it's a .png. Being an island realm, Madina is closely tied to the sea and has many merchant ships.

Notes: If the pictures are too blury I have a .png version for Pien and Morek.

For Pian, the use of dark colors represent the harsh lands scape that bound the realm. The purple reminds me of mountains as well as the color of 'Royals', Pian being a Monarchy and all. A white castle with a inverted crescent moon represent the white city at night.

For Morek, Green was predominantly used symbolize the fertile, countryside of the realm. The forcene horse further emphasizes the 'rural-ness'. The symbols are pure white, the purity of the faith. Two of the quadrants were left unpainted. I added the Templar Cross, as to show emphasize that the military vigorously defends its faith, which is currently the motto on the scroll at the bottom.

For the icon, I left it simply the Templar Cross on the Green field. This time the icon has a circular shape since the circle represents unity and purity, no beginning and no end.

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd153/MichMAK2/Madina.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd153/MichMAK2/Madina-1.png

For Madina, I chose to go with more tropical, coastal tones. The sandy gold colored leaves. The ocean blue base. Orange and White come to mind. Orange for the sun and the tropical area. White is another good light color. The symbols of Madina are the White Palm, and the Black Ship. A White ship did not look right, but black works well. Against the orange background, it looks as if the ship is sailing against the sunset. The icon for Madina makes use of this situation, a blue base for water and a circular orange background to represent the sun, behind the Black Ship.

The images used to put this together were found here [14]. However, I did all the coloring and arranging through GIMP.

Springdale - white city; scythe for the fertile lands, axe for, well, defending them.

Madina - Obvious reference to sea; the horse is also symbol of freedom, Medina being the only republic.

Morek - Based on the holarchy concept.

http://users.tpg.com.au/faulcon//Madina.jpg http://users.tpg.com.au/faulcon//Madina.png Madina as should be obvious I hope. Done by my little sister but she doesn't play so I get to take credit :)

EDIT: I should note the boat comes from the Costa Rican coat of arms, and the oak branches on the outside from the Estonian coat of arms. The icon is one of the acorns off the oak branches. In any case I like the dark and menacing clouds, after all this is frontier territory, what better place for a storm front to roll over, or rather from with the boat racing ahead of a gale... --Faulcon 03:03, 1 September 2007 (CEST)

This is For Pian en Luries. The Lion symbolises their strenght and their pride. The pot signifies the realm they hold together with their wills. The Lion also signifies their king.
