====History of Cathay==== Volume 1

The chronicles of the realm of Cathay, year 0 since Cathayan inception.

The realm has just been founded. After the events carefully described in the earlier works of scripture,found here, Cathay has finally been founded. It had after the endeavors and hard work of many been secured and placed under the rule of Lord Galiard Scarlett.

The first actions undertaken by the Lord Galiard Scarlett towards the beginning of a royal privy council to herald the founding of the monarchy in short order, and indeed help governement this monarchy when founded. Furthermore seeking to ensure a food supply for the realm the armies of the new found realm and its allies swept forth to Pates. Swept forth to conquer the region in short order and after, peacefully, subjugating the populace further fortifying the position of the new found realm. The lands of pates were placed in the care of Lord Jurgen Vanbiesbrouck. Lord Jurgen shortly afterwards swore allegiance to Duke Ardeus Miranar. With this act the two regions were truly bound together, forming a strong foundation for the newfound realm. Also through this act the foundation for the royal privy council being based off the lords of the realms was laid. For the plans to turn the realm into a monarchy flourished still.

Shortly after the laying of this foundation however Lord Galiard Scarlett decided it was time for his to retire. The founder of not only the realm of Cathay but also the idea and principles guiding the new realm felt his age and the heavy campaigns of war pressing on him. He felt it was better to allow his creative spark, his ideas, to flourish further if he sought quiet retirement near his home and with the woman he sought to court in Lasanar.

The nobles within Cathay mourned they would be bereft of Lord Galiard Scarlett's valiance, his honour, nobility, guidance and 'wisdom' of his second in command Dodd. However, the realm of Cathay was far from one man, it was strong ideals principles and many nobles that believed in them. Swiftly the Lady Telea was elected as temporary prime minister, with the clear intent of a revolution soon to dethrone her and place in charge the first king of the fledling realm. The Lord Ardeus Miranar.

However, these first days some ill fortune seemed to be turned against the young realm. The Lord Ardeus Miranar fell ill, as did one of his knights, Sir Robustus. A wasting disease having taken hold of them both and shortly afterwards claiming their life. For a moment fear gripped the young realm, fear at three of the prominent figures within the realm having faded in such short term.

The beliefs however stood strong still, and Lord Ranulf Miles shortly followed in Duke Ardeus Miranar's footsteps. Being named both Duke for a short time and preparations being prepared to anoint him as the first official king and start of the Cathayan line of kings.

Shortly afterwards the preparations had been made. The Lady Telea revolted against, Ranulf Miles annointed as first king of Cathay.

Reward came to those that had served well. The Lady Telea named as duchess of Anacan for being willing to bear the burden of being displaced as prime minister. For being willing to publicly face that shame to appease the international laws, face it because she believed in the Cathayan monarchy.

With this ends the first chapter of Cathayan history. From here forth it becomes the history of the Cathayan monarchy instead of the Cathayan republic.
