Caligus/Arfeiniel the Traitor

Cartor frowns and several wrinkles appear on his face, reminding you of his age. At the exact moment that you start to think he has forgotten the question and you want to repeat it, he scratches his head and looked deeply into your eyes, "The story of Arfeiniel the Traitor you ask?" He sighs, "You really want to know?" Noticing your expression of certainty and stubbornness he gives a nod, "Very well then..."

"Arfeiniel was the banker of Caligus, he was a loyal and good, noble man. But somehow the smell of power got the better of him. When our former king, Vlad, retired from his thrown, Arfeiniel was confident to become the next king. But, as haughty he was in this assumption, as few his voters were. He ended up losing against our current king, doombriner.

Now, the smell of power had gotten to his head, as I said before, and he just couldn't handle losing. First, he started to swear at everyone violently. Multiple times I and doombringer had to remind him that his conduct wasn't noble at all and he should calm down. None the less he kept targetting doombringer as an usurper and a traitor that had taken the title of king away from Arfeiniel. In short, he was just a really violent, sore loser.

However, as good as our king was, he gave Arfeiniel a second chance and let Arfeiniel remain banker. Arfeiniel did stop his swearing, but he started to contradict everything that was said in the council. Or better put: he started causing hamock, he never agreed with any decision, he constantly put sneaky insults in his messages, ... Anyway, he just didn't act as a noble anymore.

We could have borne with this, but Arfeiniel suddenly decided to destroy Caligus. With his powers as banker, he depleted the food reserves in all our regions causing general starvation, he hightened taxes to 25% to make people revolt, he even stole a large sum of gold from Caligus. His actions resulted in a lot of damage and deads. He fled Caligus with the gold in his pocket."

Cartor smiles melancholicly at you, "Know this: This man caused great pain to not only all the people that thought to be his friends, but also the Caligan people he left to starve. This man is our most hated outlaw, but we never managed to catch him." When you frown and want to react Cartor shushes you, "I know, I know. How come we didn't catch him? For some unexplainable reason Ibladesh took this man under its wings. He now goes under a new name, Richard, and is currently the Arch Bishop (Ruler) of the Diocese of Aix."

The rimples appear again, "Sometimes even justice fails. But as long as the story keep being told, we'll all remember it. That way he will never truly go unpunished."
