I was aiding a sickly old hag of a woman on finding her grandson. A boy who had only seen eight or nine summers. The old hag claimed he had been taken away by a centaur. I laughed off her claims and told her to not worry as there had not been any serious monster activity in the Clintoc area for many seasons. I humored her begs anyway and headed deep down into a cave that was a half of a days ride from their shack of stone and hay. I reached the cave and proceeded downward. The darkness was unbearable. I needed my flint and some of my trusty Leohampton ale to create a light. I hardly had the flame going when I heard a crash. I wheeled around to find the largest centaur I have seen in all of my time in this land throwing boulders the size of small sheep at me. I wheeled about and made but one deep thrust before the beast had me. I had wounded it well enough to be dropped but not well enough to kill it. It retreated deep into the darkness. My bloodlust took over. I grabbed the torch and proceeded downward. It took me what seemed like minutes but must have truly been hours to corner the foul beast. I pinned him between myself and a ledge that stood over a pit with no bottom. The beast charged. I lunged with all of my might and the damned thing broke my sword at the hilt. It was in agony from the blade stuck through its chestplate. I knew not what to do when I caught a glimmer of light glistening through the darkness. STEEL! I ran for it hoping to find a sword but only a broken hammer. As soon as I grabbed it though I felt invigorated. My pain, tiredness, and weakness faded. I ran for the foul beast and with one swing of the mighty hammer I cracked the beast skull as one would crack a macedamia nut. Blood spattered the walls and the hammer gave a glimmer that one could only compare to a smile. Victory. Victory was mine. I wandered the cave and found the boy. He was shaken but overall unharmed for the wear. I escorted him home and the old woman was so overcome with joy she took me to see a mage she knew to beg a gift for me. It was then that I learned of the story behind the mighty hammer. Many many years ago there was a man named Fred. This Fred was a name I had heard my relatives speak of as he once ruled Tuchanon II and lead the revolutions against the heathen lords. This Broken Hammer was his. It was the hammer that he used to fight to the death in the battle of Leohampton so many winters ago. DeadAngel himself had broken this sword just before dispatching Fred. Once I heard this I knew that this Hammer had been found so that it may once again combat the evil hoardes. It's time has come again!
