Arrival

Tai had finally arrived to Golden Farrow and was rather astounded by the riches of it. Giask was a larger city, built with white stones, but this... Golden Farrow's walls were shining in tones of yellow and gold when the sun was coming up, the ships in the docks had strains of gold in their ropes, the houses' roofs seemed to be made of golden straw, and the sea was beaming with the yellowish rays of Sun.

Leaving the ship that brought her, Tai enjoyed the fresh sea air. While Giask and Askileon were in a bay site, Golden Farrow had an unending horizon of blue sea. The water seemed warmer, and the beach to the north of her, inviting. Walking through the sand, allowing her feet to be gently wet, the hunter smiled. Finally.

The Other One seemed just a far away memory, while Tai walked into the city, appreciating the people's moods and looking for a private room to sleep. Her bag was of better crafting than what she had been used to, but had resisted the three days of sea journey finely, and she couldn't complain. Her latest purchase in terms of equipment, though, was following her, reluctantly, through the streets. It had long ears and a puffy tail, carrying most part of her luggage and decidedly not walking when she wanted to, but only when it wanted.

Tai yelled at the small ass for the tenth time in the day, cursing the vendor for having convinced her to buy it, and threatened it with becoming barbecue by sunrise if it didn't move. Be it because of the threat or not, the animal moved, and Tai entered the first inn she could see, leaving the ass to the inn's stable boy to take care of.

Allowing her body to fall in the bed, she considered: now, if my Duke of Askileon has no one he wants to contact, I might as well consider finding Brandon... the darn disappeared viking.

Brandon gets to the city

Brandon returned to his typical tavern, the Mug and Standard, and let the little hairy barkeep of the place know that he would be taking a room once more. He thought back over events of the last few weeks, as he often did after returning from a hunting trip. Dragging himself away from the Netherworld had been rough, though it had oddly become easier recently even considering the fact that Joneleth Templar had ordered a group of thugs to come and rob him... an event that had left him seriously wounded. He had lost a couple of his treasured items as well, a fact that troubled him somewhat, but it seemed a small thing in comparison to the releif he now felt.

Turning on the cheap bed, he wondered where to go from here. Though he was not exiled he was still very much far from home and what few friends he had. The Golden Farrow was a decent place, so far as cities went on this continent. The tavern he was rooming in was the closest you could get to a mead hall in atmosphere as anything outside of the Barony... random brawls and heavy drinking at all hours it often seemed. Still... sometimes one missed having someone watch thier back. With Doctor having gone missing after his exile was pronounced and no word from Nina things were rather grim on that count. With a shrug Brandon closed his eyes and decided that tomorrow he would spend some time in the tavern... perhaps there would be work, or a fight, or at least enough drink to prevent him from continuing to think on such things.

Breakfast

A few hours before sunrise, Tai woke up. Stretching, she felt the thin air of the night, along with the rich smell of the city life. Most people didn't like that smell, but she enjoyed learning through it. The wench quickly braided her hair, tying it with a leather strap, put her tunic on and dressed her new leather armor. It was light and comfortable, but she couldn't wear it without the tunic... unless she wanted men stopping wherever she passed. And that wasn't exactly good for a commoner was it? So, she just wore it with a good tunic beneath.

After sheathing her dagger, Tai went downstairs. Brandon wasn't that an unusual name, and she felt she had plenty of work to do... but she'd warm her body up with some monster-killing, first.

When the sun rose, it found Tai back at the Mug and Standard, waiting for her eggs and pork, cleaning the tip of her blade from monster's blood and humming a song. It was so good to be free...

A noble walks in

A trio of caravans parked near the door of a local pub, and a thoroughly common-looking noble jumped out from the back of the last wagon--common in terms of height and weight, although the jet black cloak laced with a scarlet trim set him slightly off from the majority in Golden Farrow.

He stepped into the pub, and was immeidately surrounded by the noise of many commoners. Garret shrugged off the uproar and stench, after all, he was here on business that required him to save money wherever he could. Approaching the bartender, he ordered a small bit of meat, and sat at a random table, waiting for nothing much.

Garret Artemesia (Knight of Port Raviel)

He sat by her side

Tai had just finished cleaning her blade when her food arrived. She then sheathed the dagger and started to slowly eat her breakfast. It didn't take much until she saw an interesting scene: a trio of caravans, pulled by well-fed pairs of oxes, stopped at the door, and from it jumped a well dressed man, with a jet black coat to his shoulders. Tai noticed the carefully tied scarlet lace, and smirked to the pork and eggs. A noble. What would a noble be doing in a tavern, full of commoners? Stinky, as they say? Looking down to her food, Tai made an effort so the man wouldn't notice her reaction.

For a moment, the man stopped at the door, and then entered the tavern, with decided steps, asking the bartender for some food, while he sat exactly in her table. Tai was admired with the way he overcame his disgust for the environment, but certainly uncomfortable for having a noble almost sharing a meal with her. She ate quietly and very concentrated in her food, trying to listen to the rumouring voices that tried to identify the man, all over the tavern. The only words she could catch were Knight of Port Raviel. In a second of surprise, Tai looked at the noble's face, saying in a voice almost to herself:
- Shadovar! But the monsters...

Greeting

When the food arrived, Garret had long since heard several rumors about his identity, from the more accurate ones about how he was a noble from the south, to the outrageous claim that he was some region lord from another continent seeking greater fortunes in a new realm. The misinformed gossip of these commoners did not affect him much, as he cut off a slice of his meat and slowly chewed on it.

Garret stared at the woman sharing the table with him. She was not staring at him, like many of the others in the vicinity, as she appeared to be fully occupied with her food. Swallowing his food, he finally spoke, "Fine day today, is it not?"

Brandon walks in

Brandon limped back into the tavern after a short visit to the healers, feeling far more free of mind than he had in months. Wandering up to the tavern keeper he quickly ordered some mead to attempt to forget his current pains. Drink in hand he turned to find a decent table and stops in shock; noting a familiar form chatting with some decently dressed fellow off a ways.

Not quite sure of himself, he takes a few seps towards the two, straining to overhear what is being said... an introduction it seems... and yes, the voice of the woman fit the memory. Straightening up and ignoring the pain in his leg and hand, he wanders over to the table.

"Nina! It's been forever and a half? How've you been and who's your companion here?"

Brandon (Freeman)

Nina presents

- Fine day, is it not?

Tai almost chocked on her food, forgetting about any etiquette and frankly looking into the noble's eyes. Suspicious from the noble's attitude, she smiled politely and gave him a head compliment.

- Yes, Sir, fine day indeed. - a moment passed in silence, then the wench continued, trying to hide a playful light in her blue eyes - Tai from Poryatu at your service, m'lord.

Before the noble could answer with his own name, a limping man approached the table, and Tai looked up to him. Realizing who it was, she smiled openly and rose to greet the hunter in front of her.

- Nina! It's been forever and a half? How've you been and who's your companion here?
- Brandon, I've been looking for you! - with yet another smile, she continued - and I don't know exactly who my companion is, as of yet. Please, sit, I see the monsters haven't been easy on you, have they?

While she helped Brandon to his seat, Tai whispered to his ear:
- He's a noble, and I think he might be lost in this city...

Back to her bench, Tai waited for the nobleman to take the word, while she considered she couldn't understand what a noble figure would be doing in a tavern like that if he wasn't lost... Unless it was for manly, not noble, purposes. A chill went down her spine while Tai thought how glad she was to have her dagger with her. He wouldn't harm her freely, if that was his intention.
