A summary of the love story between Llew Haerthorne and Mary Anne de la Fere Bluelake

Roleplay from Lyra

After another long day gathering and investigating, Lyra and Lily went to meet Oiren at their usual tavern. He was already there, enjoying some food, and they sat down by his side. Lilith hugged him hello and he offered her some sweet cake in greeting. Lyra just took a mug of ale and sipped it, clearly tired.

"I don't think I'll ever find the ring, Oiren. I did find tales and legends, though. I could even write a ballad... There was this young, very young man, which became Marshal, Margrave of Isadril and Prime Knight of Vix Tiramora before he was 18 years old. He wasn't pretty, nor tall, nor strong, but he led Vix to many battles, and commoners from across the south hailed him as hero. He was often sick, and mild with his words, but garnered power and love across the land... including the love of a princess. The princess hailed from a distant realm, he only knew her by letters... Not a beauty, but smart, not cunning, but dutyful. She scolded him for a lost battle very early on, and they exchanged letters frequently for a long while. They shared herbs and worries, family history and desires, they planned, they joked, they succeeded, they failed..." She trailed off for a while, thinking of all the things she heard.

"He asked her cousin the King to marry her, and it took them the full cycle of a moon to come to an agreement. They almost fought one another, but the princess' kind intervention made her heart's desire possible. When she could finally say yes, tell him her cousin had agreed, our reluctant hero disappeared. It is said he went to a spiritual retreat, but the common folk sometimes mention fairies coming to take him, to prevent this marriage which could have changed the shape of the south. Less kind people say the Knight finally saw her face and was so disheartened by it, he ran off. Others say the princess's other suitor, another Vixen powerful nobleman, plotted against the Knight and is keeping him in an underground dungeon... The stories go on and on. Nonetheless, they all agree there was a ring, a band, the Shiny Band of Ardor, which he was going to present his princess with on their wedding day, and it was lost here, in Castle Ubent, many moons ago, just before his disappearance."

The bard smiled sadly at her companions, Lilith was absolutely distraught and some people on other tables had also stopped to listen.

"It's a nice story, isn't it, Oiren? And as with most good stories, it has a very sad ending."
