The County of Prevos

Geography

Prevos is a region of rolling plains and low hills located between the Great Creasur Forest and the river Illien, part of the great plains that reach from the sea to the Dragonhome Mountains in the north. Even though Prevos is far north of the ocean, the sea still influences the land, giving Prevos mild winters and not too hot summers, making the land an excellent place for agriculture.

Prevos can be divided in three general zones or "cantons" as the local call it.

Forestreach

Forestreach is the canton taking up the eastern portion of the region. Its capital is Leafshadow, the largest town in the canton and a base for the foresters that work in the limits of the Great Creasur Forest. Its current Lady is Mistweave of the Gordon family.

Grandbourg

In the west, along the Great Illien River, stands Grandbourg, a hilly and sparsely settled canton. Here, agriculture and the production of the famed Grandbourg firemead are the primary occupations of the area's people. The canton is ruled from Sweetwater, the main market town in the canton, and is currently held by Lord Linoren of the Tasartir family.

Prevosar

Finally we have the Prevosar canton in the middle, where most of the cultivable plains stands and where the bulk of the population resides. Hurlingham, the capital and largest town of Prevos is situated here, its markets full of the bounty of the land and ready to supply its sister regions in Plergoth. The Lord overseeing the town is Gileas of the Marham family.

Hurlingham is also the seat of Countess Dedmerath Mekorig, from where she wisely rules the region.

Economy

Prevos is a primarily rural region, and thus the peasantry focus on agriculture. Each harvest results in hundreds of surplus bushels of food ready to be shipped via ox cart from Prevos' many market towns to the other regions of Plergoth in need of food.

Also, Prevos is know for two other typical products, the Grandbourg firemead, a famed and very strong beer produced in the Grandbourg canton, using the finest mineral water from the local hills' springwaters and the nest grain of the province, and the other product being the Prevos Axes. Made with metal from the Dragonhome Mountains in the north, its construction is a tradition dating back to the first inhabitants of Prevos, who were the loggers that make the Grand Creasur Forest retreat to free the rich farming land of what Prevos is currently made.

The People

The Prevosians are a happy bunch, a mix of different peoples all around the island. Hard working and honorable, they prefer to see a job well done than leave it for another day, and they held their promises to the end, even if this take them to problems.

Past History

Little is know about Prevos history, save for some old songs. These songs tell about how some tribes coming from what appears to be the wastelands north of Mesh, to settle in these lands, and how they fought the bandits, monsters and local forest tribes to clear the province of the Great Creasur Forest to free it so they can farm it.

Recent History

Prevos recent history was a quiet one. Local documents claim that the region was part of Enweil in the past, but its transition to Plergoth rulership was a peaceful one. The last recorded incidents are some raids made by Vlaanderenni rebels and Khthonian bandits. Dark time arrived to Prevos. After beign captured by the Daimons, Sir Linoren of the noble House of Tasartir was appointed Count in the abscence of Countess Dedmerath Mekorig. But his Lordship was not long, has some week laters hordes of Daimons invaded the province, expelling the troop of Plergoth, killing all the loyal servants, and intalling a puppet goverment led by tainted human cultist and inhuman beasts from the underworld. Since them, Prevos have become a hell in earth. But its inhabitants endure, waiting fo rthe close days where the plergothian legions will come again to cleanse the region from the Daimon taint.
