Description

Situated on the westernmost portion of Norland, the region of Belegrond is bordered by Eston to the West and the Barony of Makar to the North. Belegrond is the heart of the Duchy of Belegrond, Moramroth, vital part of the functioning of Belegrond, has been sacked and occupied by the Ithillians. Peny's Mom Is Not Happy.

A mighty stronghold hewn from the mountain itself, Belegrond lies in the protective shadow of Mt Moramroth, home of the Order of Yetis. Many an invading force has sworn that as they marched towards Belegrond, the shadow of the Mountain fell across the stronghold in the form of a giant yeti. The howling of Yetis from the mountains can be heard many a night as the wind rides the mountain ridgeline into the vale of Belegrond.

Belegrond has been home to many a formiddable duke, including Derack the Daring, Wulfgar, and Gimlack the Grizzly. Currently Duke Fenrig Harkonnen is her leader.

Belgerond is home to the Kniggits of Belegrond, of who Sir Cyrus was the eldest, and most reliable, yet he fell to the blade of the Enemy, and now he sits beside Odin in Valhalla, and is an inspiration to the rest of the Kniggits.

Currently Fighting for Norland, under Belgrond's Banner are Lord Matthias, Lord Phillip Lacoste, Sir Yusuf McSweeney, Lady Elitha and Sirs Raimond and Tralpo. The latter three are still seeking to make a name for themselves, and their contributions are welcomed during these dark days for Norland.

The population of 6 thousand are comprised of farmers, merchants and traders, who are generally content to go about their daily business of living in peace, and yet as true Vikings any one of Belegrond's inhabitants will pick up an axe, sword, or bow in time of need. Belegrond's Walls are manned by The Storm of Hammers and the Belegrond Bezerkers. Many of Belegrond's youth, aspire to either protect the city as a member of her militia or travel to Brackhead as members of the feared Sons of Odin or reknown Longbows of Belegrond.

The Way of the Hammer is the major faith in Belegrond, but seeing as Belegrond lies bordering 3 realms, it is not surprising the both Hogr of Makar and the Venerable order of the Citadel each have a large following among the populace. Despite an idividuals faith, the people of Belegrond coexist in harmony, and thrive among their diversity.

The main stronghold of Belegrond is also home to Funkar Bootspit's Forge of Fury, this stout little fellow, who some whisper has lineage dating back to the Gods of the Mountain themselves, is a master craftsman, whose weapons and armor are touted as the some of the finest in all of Atmara.

Belegrond also boasts several Breweries and countless taverns and Inns. One of the most popular taverns, the Stanky Tankard is rumored to have been the birthplace of Belegrond's most successful hangover producer, Wet Yeti Wheat. Try some on your next visit!

Thanatos Stronghold

A near-impenetrable fortress, shielded from one side by the vast mountains of Moramroth, and by a 12-foot thick, 30-foot high massive granite wall on the other side. There is no way through the wall; if you want to take the fortress, you have to scale the walls. The stronghold is designed in such a way that a small force can defend it from a much larger army, something that Norland has experienced the hard way. They attacked the fortress with a vast army when it was protected by only a handful of soldiers and sentries, and they were driven off the walls time and time again. The top of the walls have only a narrow walkway, so attacking forces have to tread carefully to avoid risking a deadly plunge. Only the strongest infantrymen can defend the walls, as they are the best when it comes to pushing back attack ladders and fighting man-to-man on the narrow ledges. The fortress keep has space for up to 8 garrisons of archers, who are able to cover the entire length of the wall with archer fire, creating a second, very deadly line of defense. Thanatos Stronghold is currently governed by Duke Hades Reaver.
