Carelia is neutral in a war between their allies Abington, and the Cagilan Empire. However, when Carelia allows Abington to pass through their territory CE decide to declare war on Carelia, a minnow in comparison in almost all areas, except courage and commitment. With Abington then swarmed upon by ASI and Minas Ithil, Carelia was completely alone against what was one of the mightiest realms Atamara has ever seen. Boasting an army that dwarfed Carelia’s, CE set about invading Carelia quickly, but found fighting the realm of hero’s a much harder proposition than they had bargained for, and Carelia put up many brave stands in the face of overwhelming odds. For a long time Carelia stood strong against the tide, even taking the city of Skalk from CE and always managing to reclaim all its outlying regions which were constantly being fought over and being taken over again and again by the opposing forces. Carelia repeatedly requested aid from the Federate Partners to help them gain the upper hand, but they could not spare any forces to aid their friends. It looked like Carelia would have to stand alone, fighting a brave war, but fighting a losing war. Great battles were fought, heroes fell in battle on both sides, but Carelia’s war effort was exhausting every supply they had. The cities of Nida and Skalk fell to CE’s power, and the long journey back to Strombran to refit made it nigh on impossible to stem the flow of the forces of the Cagilan Empire going through Nida and Skalk into both the North and West of Carelia. The outlying regions of Carelia all came under the banner of Cagilan Empire and the recruitment centres of Carelia began to rapidly empty as each noble tried to muster up enough forces to carry their family’s banner into battle, but it was to no avail. The forces of the Cagilan Empire bulstered and swamped the forces of Carelia who could no longer field enough forces to match even the vanguard of CE, and in each battle they fought valiantly but lost. Eventually came the time when CE’s forces were sieging the impenetrable walls of Strombran and Carelia could do nothing except wait for the inevitable attack and try to defend as well as they could. With Carelia down to just the regions of …………. they had to accept that they were going to lose the war, and King Kronos Titans began the laborious task of trying to get Carelia peace and safety from destruction. Amazingly, King Kronos managed to make peace and convince CE to allow Carelia to regain its regions after 6 months of CE owning them.

During this time of peace, Carelia had little chance of gaining power as it was down to ….. regions and had a small income to support its Knights. Several left to find pastures greener, but the loyal nobles stayed and create the backbone of Carelian society.

Although Carelia could not fight against its enemies in a aggressive way, it dedicated its Knights to defending Stargard from Darka, CE and others wishing to destroy Redspan. It also sent forces to Falasan to do the same, a defensive guardianship of its friends city of Barad Falas. Time was taken to make sure that Carelia had everything in place to return it to its former glory once its regions were returned, and the infrastructure of Carelia was bettered by the hard work of the Senate and the Lords of the regions.

Once Carelia had regained its former regions, Carelia was strong again and able to aid its allies and Federates in battle once again, and was a force to be reckoned with.
