-Description:

Bajit is a woodland just outside the city of Reeds, to the city's southwest. The Zisswi River arcs around to Bajit's south (it is called Twillen River further south). This is where it begins to settle down from its torrents in the north, although there are still some rapids that hinder trading vessels. The floods of spring bring annual enrichment to the few farmlands along its way, with the majority of these being found in the plains like area in the southwestern corner of Bajit bordering the Zisswi River. It is here that the largest village in Bajit can be found. Consisting of only roughly 150 or so villagers, Cornel is not at all a large village, however by comparison to the other villages that lie scattered throughout Bajit it is the most populated area.

The rest of the region is densely wooded, both by conifers and hardwoods, which are mixed close to the river while hardwoods dominate in the uplands in the central area of the region. Within the densest of these hardwood forests, the Silver Forest, is the small village of Orlan which has been able to flourish deep in the forest with no real farm fields by depending on the Silver Ironwood trees which are plentiful in this small area of Bajit. Being quite useful for making bows, arrow shaves, spears, armors and other items where the strength and durability of the wood used to construct the item is of great importance, Orlan sustains itself by harvesting the trees and selling them at market. With Count Terric Shadowbane constructing a Special Forces recruitment center outside of Cornel, the village of Orlan has recently become home to some highly skilled craftsmen who specialize in making weapons and armor from the Silver Ironwood opening a new trade for Orlan as the weapons and armor made by these craftsmen are sold to the recruitment center.

While it is the logging and lumber mills that employ the majority of the workforce, there is also a small copper-mining industry in the uplands which provide work for a few small villages outside of the Silver Forest. These villages have recently benefited from the increased demand for the copper produced by the mines to make armor and weapons for the Special Forces Recruitment Center.

-History:

Just as Reeds has been held by several nations during its history, Bajit has changed hands also, and more often than the city. For decades she has hosted bloody battles between Mesh and Vlaanderen and so much of her history has been lost due to these contentions.

In a set of battles in the late summer of 1008, Bajit was brought into and out of Mesh's hands, then back again. It was then usurped by a priest, Althlas Alderman from Heen in odd circumstances. The exact details of how this happened have been lost however.

During the Damion war Bajit's main focus was to be one of the main sources of wood and fish produced in the realm of Mesh, of whom had taken it last from the hands of Vlaanderen. Count Nikolai Karpachev of Mesh took a great deal of care in managing the region to support the realm, but could not do it alone. Only with the help of his brother Sergei Karpachev, fellow bureaucrat Zak Strife-Lionheart, and Minister of Defense Callisto Seraph could prosperity have been brought back to the region of Bajit.

-Recent History (Compiled by Master Scribe Jermine at the direction of Count Terric Shadowbane):

At the end of the Damion wars Bajit was under the leadership of count Pwllgwynn and had no knights serving it. After the assaults on the Damion nest in Jobo's Mouth freeman Terric Shadowbane, a freeman working closely with Lord Purple Recluse and the Beluaterra Alliance to close the Damion portal in Jobo's Mouth, was knighted by Lord Recluse and became a knight of Bajit under Count Pwllgwynn. Shortly afterward Count Pwllgwynn had a falling out with the military council and subsequently most of Mesh resulting in the count's departure from the realm of Mesh and the continent of Beluaterra. As the only knight of the region and with support from Lord Purple, Terric was elected as the region's new count leaving the region once again without a knight. In the days, weeks, and months that followed, count Terric set to work holding the region together and restoring order to the mess that had been left behind by Count Pwllgwynn in his hasty departure from the region.

-Current Events:

With tireless efforts of the Mesh Bureaucratic Corps, Marquis Ronald Graves,Duke of Poitra, Supreme Judge of Mesh, and Sir Iam Fate, Knight of Bajit, the region was restored to a short lived state of prosperity.

However shortly afterward, Sir Iam vanished under rather mysterious circumstances with his estate found ransacked and all inside it slain. No signs of Sir Iam were found and the only clue to what happened was a blood stained letter hastily written by Sir Iam that the blood stains left completely illegible. In light of this Bajit was once again left without a knight to help keep the peace and see to the needs of the people sending the region into turmoil. Fate thankfully saw to it that there would be a rather impressive surge of new nobles coming to the realm of Mesh and Count Shadowbane was able to acquire the services of one of these new nobles, Cassandra Johanson.

Now begins again the difficult task of restoring order to the region.
