FOLK SONGS OF AVAMAR

Avamar currently hosts two great Bards; Kultan Fulgor and Amraedil Abandonas. Apart from story telling, they compose popular songs to entertain Avamarians, both citizens and troops. Rumors are saying that Elven (pointy) ears can't withstand a full Avamarians song singed by a charismatic bard. Not because of some magical power they hold, but because Doccy has placed upon his submissive and loyal subjects, a powerful spell who prevents phenomena of a Sirionite joyful audience making fun of him...

Most Fontanese are also not aware of the Avamrian folk music as weel, as they have anyway so low intelligence and awful sense of humour that can't understand their meaning and artistic language...

Title: "Montijo Roads"

Author: Kultan Fulgor

Almost heaven, once West Sirion,
Blue ridge mountains
Avamar river -
Life is grand there
Grander than out east,
Greater than in Fontan
Nowhere a better place

Monijo roads, take me home
To the place I belong
Once West Sirion, Marguerite momma
Take me home, Montijo roads

All my memories gathered around her
Noble's daughter, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine
Teardrops in my eye

Montijo roads, take me home
To the place I belong
Once West Sirion, Marguerite momma
Take me home, Montijo roads

I hear Naira's voice
In the mornin’ hour she calls me
Sayin' "Kultan, come an' fight for your home",
And marchin’ down the road I get a feelin’
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday

Montijo roads, take me home
To the place I belong
Once West Sirion, Marguerite momma
Take me home, Montijo roads

Montijo roads, take me home
To the place I belong
Once West Sirion, Marguerite momma
Take me home, Montijo roads
Take me home, Montijo roads

(OOC: to the tune of "Take Me Home Country Roads")

Kultan's Untitled song, Inspired by Love

Throughout the starry night, a line of caravans stretched their way through the wilderness. Avamar always needed more food, so Kultan urged his men to keep going through the night. Usually he worked the shifts so that he could rest on these overnight hauls, but tonight sleep eluded him. All this talk of love ... a bard has no need for love! Always on the go, new girl in every town, live for the moment! ... Then why am I awake right now, staring out at the star-filled sky?

Grabbing his lute (his lyre broke a string earlier that day), he began strumming, first an idle tune that his voice suddenly found words for, not the words that he had sung in front of countless audiences, but coming from somewhere else ...

By the failing light mine eyes can see,
The proudest of warriors in a field o' green.
Nothing to stop her, no emotion to be seen,
As the failing light takes over me.

In the darkest night my ears do tell,
The sounds of voyagers moving ov'er the ground
Moving through the silence all around,
Their only lack is what one cannot sell.

The chill of the blackness through this night
Cuts to the quick, flesh turns to stone,
What can one do when truly alone?
The lonely heart grieves, filled with true fright

Now I can see, the stars guide my way,
The darkness still there, but not afraid to try
Whatever may come, there will always be you and I
Now I can hope for the light of the day.

As the last chords drifted off into the night sky, Kultan stowed his lute and drifted into sleep, hoping that with rest he could come up with better lyrics ...

Title: "Geoffrey Bun"

Author: Kultan Fulgor

The party at the Dwarven Choral Combat Unit nightclub in Avamar was already going full-swing when Kultan took to the stage for his second set of the night. The reception for his first set was quite good, only four bottles were tossed in his general direction. The most disturbing part was that one of the bottle throwers, wrapped in a dark cloak, had been openly brandishing a pink whip ...

As his scribe set up his new instrument, Kultan quickly addressed the crowd. "I just came back from a week in prison in Fontan ...", here he stopped for a chorus of boos and catcalls, "and in that time I've come up with a song to thank Fontan's ruler, Geoffrey 'Bun' " pause again for boos and the unholstering of swords, "for his kind hospitality!".

With no furhter ado, Kultan sat down in front of his new instrument, what the dealer had called a 'harpischord'. Banging out a strong, fast rhythm that soon had everyone on their feet clapping along to the beat, he began to sing:

Well 'ole south side of the cont'nent,
Is the baddest place to run,
And if you go down there
You better just beware
Of a man name of Geoffrey 'Bun'

Now Geoffrey thinks he's trouble
Though he stand about four foot four
All those Fontan ladies call him Napoleon
All his lackeys just call him "Sir"

And he's bad, bad Geoffrey 'Bun'
The baddest man under this sun
Badder than a-old King Doc
And meaner than a Operto dog

Now Geoffrey he a gambler
And he like his fancy clothes
And he like to wear his diamond rings
In front of everybody's nose

He got a custom armor plating
He got a sword and shield too
He got a big 'ole dart in his pocket for fun
He got a razor in his boot

And he's bad, bad Geoffrey 'Bun'
The baddest man under this sun
Badder than a-old King Doc
And meaner than a Operto dog

Well Friday 'bout a week ago
Geoffrey shootin' dice
And at the edge of his realm
Was a region called Montijo
And oo that land looked nice

Well he cast his eyes upon it
And the trouble soon began
And Geoffrey 'Bun' had learned a lesson 'bout a-messin'
With the land of the Avamarians! (this drew a huge cheer from the crowd)

And he's bad, bad Geoffrey 'Bun'
The baddest man under this sun
Badder than a-old King Doc
And meaner than a Operto dog

Well the two realms took to fighting
And when they pulled them from the floor
Geoffrey looked like a jigsaw puzzle
With a couple of pieces gone

And he's bad, bad Geoffrey 'Bun'
The baddest man under this sun
Badder than a-old King Doc
And meaner than a Operto dog

And he's bad, bad Geoffrey 'Bun'
The baddest man under this sun
Badder than a-old King Doc
But he'll never beat Avamar!

Yeah he was badder than a-old King Doc
But he'll never beat Avamar!

(OOC: to the tune of "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" by Jim Croce)

Title: "Imagine"

Author: Amraedil Abandonas

"Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No Sirion below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
No Doc to kill or die for,
No Fontanese too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if they* can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of hand,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join Avamar,
And the world will live as one."

  • they= because we don't hold any possessions anyway!

Title: "An Avamarian"

Author: Kultan Fulgor

I left the estate this morning about a quarter after nine
coulda been the famine coulda been the wine
when I left the estate this morning
it was a little after nine
I was an Avamarian, when I saw the constellations
reveal themselves one star at a time

Rode back to town this morning with working on my mind
I thought of maybe quitting
thought of leaving it behind
went back to bed this morning
and as I'm pulling down the blind
the sky was dull and hypothetical
and falling one cloud at a time

That night in Supra with the Yssarian forces
riding on horseback and Caligus falling back
I watched expecting to hang
but I got up and sang
and our voices rang with that Caligan twang

I got to your house this morning just a little after nine
in the middle of that battle
couldn't get you off my mind
so I'm at your house this morning
just a little after nine
cause I was an Avamarian where I saw the constellations
reveal themselves one star at a time

(OOC: To the tune of "Bobcaygeon" by the Tragically Hip)

Title: "Doc Primus Hallelujah!"

(The ballad Amraedil sang the day Oligarch fell)

Author: Amraedil Abandonas

"Doc Primus Hallelujah!
Doc Primus Hallelujah!

The saints are crippled
On this sinners’ night
Lost are the lambs with no guiding light

The walls come down like thunder
The rocks about to roll
It’s the Apocalypse
Now Oligarch is gone

All elves need is lightning
With power and might
Striking down the beauty and truth
As the moon is rising
Give them the sign
Now let them rise up in awe

Elf and puppet angels bring thyn Doc Primus hallelujah
Demons and elves all in one have arrived
Elf and puppet angels bring thyn Doc Primus hallelujah
In God’s creation supernatural high

The true purehearted
Thou shall be saved
Brothers and sisters keep strong in the faith
On the day of the Elves
It’s who dares, wins
You will see the jokers soon’ll be the new kings

All elves need is lightning
With power and might
Striking down the beauty and truth
As the moon is rising
Give them the sign
Now let them rise up in awe

Elf and puppet angels bring thyn Doc Primus hallelujah
Demons and elves all in one have arrived
Elf and puppet angels bring thyn Doc Primus hallelujah
In God’s creation supernatural high

Wings on your back
You got horns on your head
Your fangs are sharp
And your eyes are red
your heart pitch black
You are the one that fell
Now choose to join Doccy, you'll go anyway to Hell!

Doc Primus hallelujah
Doc Primus hallelujah
Doc Primus hallelujah
Doc Primus hallelujah

Elf and puppet angels bring thyn Doc Primus hallelujah
Demons and elves all in one have arrived
Elf and puppet angels bring thyn Doc Primus hallelujah
In God’s creation supernatural high

Doc Primus hallelujah"
