Chapter VII

Avalon franticly readied for the upcoming battle between them and Luz de Bia. Hector had fallen ill and couldn’t fight. He had been sleeping since the day before Avalon got news of the great battle. The army began without him. Avalon readied their forces and moved out.

It was quite chilly outside and the armor the men wore made it even colder. Revan felt brave this day. The cold gusts of air slapped his face and psyched him out for the battle. He still wished that he could fight with his friend but he was already pumped up and soon after forgot about it. The two armies soon found each other and waited. Marshals were afraid to call the attack before the other because that might give them an advantage. An hour goes by of a silent hostility and tension rising like a bubbling pot of water. Finally, a man yells from no where and they begin to charge at each other. Archers, behind the infantry fire upon the charging infantry. Infantry meet infantry and archers halt. Revan turns blood thirsty and hacks and slices away at the enemy. Minutes multiply to hours and battling continues. Revan fights vigorously and blood is drenched all upon his armor. Luz de Bia Marshals could see that they would loose so they call their archers to fire upon the infantry, be it enemy or friend. It turned the battle significantly and some had begun to flee. Some more hero’s stayed and fought till they were struck with an arrow. Revan finishes off an enemy and turns to the archers firing upon them. He pleaded it to stop. He then spots an Avalonian without any armor that had made it to the archer line. It was Ares himself chopping away at the archers. Ares cut down to the last archer and the last seconds of the archers’ life he shoots Ares in the heart with an arrow before he was stabbed with Ares’ sword. Ares staggers off into the forest. Avalon soon after won the battle.

Ares returned to Heaven with the arrow still stuck in his heart. Apollo treats him of his wound. As Ares is being treated he asks Apollo.

“Damn. If only I had my armor I would have come out of that battle without a scratch.”

Apollo rips the arrow out of Ares’ chest. He continues to treat him without saying anything, he was just interested in returning to something else.

“I was the hero of that. If it weren’t for me, Avalon would have fallen for sure Who would have the guts to steal my armor?”

Apollo thinks to himself about Hephaestus. He had seen Hephaestus with Ares’ armor but he couldn’t possibly tell him. He stutters a bit and then replies. “Perhaps you misplaced it?”

“Impossible! I would never misplace my armor. Especially with a battle such as that coming up.”

Ares looks at Apollo. He noticed that Apollo knew something. “If you knew who took my armor would you tell me, brother?”

“Uh- Yes, yes of course”

“You know something! I can see it.”

“No, I don’t know who took your armor. If I did, I would tell you.”

Apollo had finished patching up Ares and he stood up. Ares voice raised to a yell. “Who took my armor!! Was it Hermes?”

“No, it wasn’t.”

“Was it Dionysus??”

“No, it wasn’t.”

Ares takes his blade and raises it to Apollo’s neck. “Who was it??”

“ Hephaestus It was Hephaestus.”

“Hephaestus is dead, you idiot! WHO IS IT??”

“Hephaestus was never dead. Hermes lied to us. I saw Hephaestus with your armor when I found him at his volcano”

Ares runs infuriated to his chariot to take care of Hephaestus. Apollo rushes to Zeus and tells him that Hephaestus was alive but not for long if Zeus did not do something. Ares arrives before Zeus can. Ares drags Hephaestus out of his volcano.

“Hephaestus you coward! I’m gonna rip your arms off for what you did!” “No, Ares, Please don’t! I didn’t mean to!”

Ares is just about to tear Hephaestus apart but Zeus arrives just before he could. “Ares, release him!”

Ares lets go of Hephaesus.

“Ares you know better than to harm your own brother! He gives you your weapons and armor and this is how you thank him? And you Hephaestus, I can’t believe you would stoop so low to try and harm your brother. Ares, take your armor and return to the heavens. Hephaestus, I must banish you far away from here.”

Hephaestus was banned to an island without a furnace, far away. Many days go by and tensions fall in the heavens and the war with Avalon and Luz de Bia. As tensions fall in Beluaterra and the heavens, Hephaestus becomes enraged wondering why he had been punished and Ares hadn’t. The seasons began to change and Hephaestus had formulated a plan to get back at Ares. When Persephone returned to Demeter, Hades called for Hephaestus to guard the underworld. When he does Hephaestus commands Hades one thing.

“Hades, I shall only take rule of the underworld under one condition. After every battle, you must resurrect the dead with this.”

Hephaestus hands Hades the scepter.

“But Hephaestus, why do you want me to do this?”

“It is better that you do not ask questions. I am doing you a favor, right?”

Hephaestus wanted Ares to fight in an endless war. He wanted to prove Ares’ a coward to the gods. Hades accepts the deal and returns to Persephone, secretly.
