Jessica’s Vision

Jessica is standing in a field. Snarling beasts are behind a massive iron gate about a hundred yards behind a large golden tree. The beasts rip and tear at the gate, and the stone holding the gate is starting to crumble. A large, brilliant tree is shinning before her. She stares at the tree, completely fearless of the monsters behind the tree, smashing viciously at the gates. She stares at the tree, and the tree starts to reach for her, and a large, long, gentle branch comes to a rest on her cheek. As it does, visions blast into view.

She sees a beautiful scene, a gorgeous city with children playing, and people out for a walk. Birds chirp as the gentle wind blows. Then, clouds drift over the city and it is suddenly engulfed in darkness and devastation. Monsters storm the city, children run, but are quickly scooped up and eaten. Mothers cry, only for a moment before large creatures pounce on them and devour them.

Ghostly, creepy winged creatures float in the sky, orchestrating the attacks. The city is in ruin. She begins to float, higher, and higher and everywhere she turns, monsters roaming the land. Humans are no where to be seen. The devastation is horrifying and she starts to cry and convulse.

In a flash, her vision stops. She turns to see the gate giving way. Snarling disfigured beasts break through the gate, as the wall crumbles beneath their massive bodies, they start towards her. The tree withers and dries up in a moment. She hears a cry, like that of a woman as the tree crumbles and blows away in the wind. Jessica is frozen, and tries to run, but they are too fast. Hundreds; thousands of the horrible creatures breach the gate and charge straight for her. A large winged creature looks at her. Inside her head she hears a frightening voice, “You’ll never make it, child!” As the beasts leap at her, she jerks awake.

She is in her room, sweating from head to toe. Her sheets are soaking wet and her heart is racing. Was that a dream? It seemed so real.

Jessica gets out of bed. It’s in the middle of the night now, sometime around 3:00 in the morning. She pours herself a glass of warm water from her pitcher and gulps it down. She thinks long and hard about what she dreamed. She recounts it, step by step in her head.

She thinks hard, and asks herself, What was it the tree said to me just before it stopped showing me those horrid visions? She says aloud, “You are the chosen one.”
