BREAKING NEWS: ASH'RILY IN FLAMES

Untold numbers of reports are coming in of looting and pillaging of Ash'rily. What started as an isolated incident of RedSpanian thuggery has escalated in a full-scale campaign of oppression and an orgy of destruction. There can be no peace with barbarians.

BREAKING NEWS: ABINGTONIAN TROOPS JOIN PILLAGING OF ASH'RILY

The RedSpanian looting of Ash'rily has spread to the ranks of Abingtonian forces in the city. Seven separate incidents of looting the city have been reported. With such widespread dishonorable activity going on, one must assume that the sacking is intentional and that the leaders of the Abingtonian forces are turning a blind eye to the situation.

BREAKING NEWS: SACKING OF ASH'RILY BEGINS

Almost immediately after the fall of Ash'rily RedSpan troops began looting the citizens of the city. Reports indicate that gold, jewelry, silver spoons, and children's underwear were taken by undisciplined RedSpanian thugs.

BREAKING NEWS: ASH'RILY FALLS

The beleaguered defenders of Ash'rily finally succumbed to overwhelming force on the third major attempt by it's enemies to overwhelm the surrounded city. Unable to overcome the few defenders themselves, Abington enlisted the aid of it's underling realms who supplied massive numbers of troops. The defenders of the city were confident believing that they would once again face just a disorganized mob like the last two times the city was attacked. Unfortunately, the servants of Abington were more skillful than their master had been before and the city was overwhelmed. Abington is now clearly the dominant power in Atamara with both Carelia and RedSpan doing their bidding and Ash Sea Islands essentially in the position of being ground down by the huge forces arrayed against it. Given the history of the last few months, ASI will continue its brave stand against Abington and its sub-realms and could extend the conflict for some time. How long that will be, or if other realms will finally see the danger that is Abington, is not clear.

BREAKING NEWS: FOREIGN TRADER AND OFFICIAL ATTACKED!

Adam, the Minister of Finances of the Cagilan Empire, Marquis of Trassing was attacked and left seriously wounded during a business trip to ASI. Zadar Nargath, Prime Minister of the Cagilan Empire has vowed that the realm responsible for the dastardly sneak attack will be dealt with. ASI has been plagued with infiltrators under the pay of Abington and it is suspected that now the infiltrators have broadened their prey to include foreign nationals within ASI as Abington grows more desperate to show some success in their war after a series of battlefield reversals.

BREAKING NEWS: Bandits Dispersed in Tichi

ASI patrols in Tichi came upon a gang of Abingtonian thieves and cutthroats last night, interrupting them as they burned private homes and harassed the farm animals. The Abingtonians hastily formed up for battle but were overwhelmed by the determined ASI patrol and quickly ran for their lives into the surrounding countryside. Tichians breathed a sigh of relief and applauded their rescuers. Tichi has undergone several days of looting and pillaging by the small group of thugs.

BREAKING NEWS: ASI forces Victorious in Yacon

A probe from Lerss confronted Abingtonian forces in Yacon and sent them packing. Raiden of Abington was wounded just before the retreat from the battlefield. ASI casualties are said to be light.

BREAKING NEWS: Abington Resorts to the Black Flag

Unable to make headway, the frustrated Abingtonian leadership has resorted to the black flag. Abingtonian bandits burned homes and fields in Tichi and tortured household pets before fading back into the woods with the silverware. Such banditry has increased with each battlefield setback for the Abingtonians. Civilians in the area are nervous about what the next outrage will be.

BREAKING NEWS: Attempted Assassin to Face Justice

Nimrod, and agent of Abington, was captured under suspicious circumstances only hours ago. Such infiltrations have increased lately and ASI has announced a new policy whereby repeat offenders can now expect to be executed. ASI has shown mercy in most cases in the past but Abington has resorted more and more to such ruthless tactics to take advantage of our soft heart. ASI has informed the Abington leadership so that all may be warned and not be surprised when repeat offenders are brought to ultimate justice. Much debate has occurred within ASI over this policy but recent actions have forced the hand and it now enjoys widespread support.

BREAKING NEWS: Diplomatic Wrangling Comes to Naught

Couriers are flying back and forth between Ser'quea and Riverholm but no end is in sight for the increasingly bitter war. Bitter recriminations from both sides have been volleyed back and forth, copies of which are making their way to the streets. Despite the numerous battlefield setbacks, the Abingtonian leadership has made no move towards compromise. ASI remains firm in its defense of its actions, and its territory. King Doc's Revenge has given a logical and thorough history of the events leading up to the war but the Abingtonian ruler remains deaf to reason.

Victory in Ash'rily

Outnumbered Defenders Break Invaders Will For Second Time

Abingtonian invaders once again threw themselves against the walls of fortress Ash'rily and were driven off by a few stout nobles and the city levy numbering half their strength. After last weeks huge debacle, residents of the city felt that they had earned themselves a respite. But the Abbies, choking on defeat, rallied nearby and returned for more of the same.

Abingtonian forces managed to force their way into the city where fierce combat took place in the streets. City defenders blocked the way forward while archers poured volley after volley into the crowded attackers. Abingtonian troops, unable to stand the stinging downpour, once again found themselves fleeing across the fields away from Ash'rily in disgrace.

Abington wounded included: Kaledon, Drago (Duke of Wor'ight, Marshal of the army of Wor'ight), leila, Dambien, Rory (seriously), Hransaen, Nikolai Alexander, Mark, Spiritmonger (High Marshal of Abington and Count of Chasnoff).

Soon after the battle much needed food supplies began to arrive in the city. For the first time in some time the citizens of Ash'rily will be able to feed their children properly.

Victory in Veshin

The Army Advances

The army sallied forth this week to confront the Abingtonian invaders that have been rampaging through Lerss and Yacon. After driving the invader before it into Veshin, the army caught up with the ill-formed mob and dealt them a firm blow. Though the strength of two armies was equal, the men of Ash Sea Islands were defending their homeland and their determination carried them through the battle to victory, along with help from their stalwart allies from Minas Ithil.

Wounded Abingtonians included: droon, Leah (Marshal of the army of Narville), Sir Carriantor (Baron of Monagle and Marshal of the army of Wayburg), Zzyxz, Iaan, Deschain (Count of Tarkhog), larry (Count of Glassinn)

Looking for Honor and Glory?

Recruits Welcomed

If you are looking to prove your mettle on the battlefield then Ash Sea Islands is the center of the world. Ash Sea Islands is a tight-knit brotherhood, always outnumbered but never outfought. Currently invaded from all sides we have seen multiple victories in Worav, Yacon, and the historic defense of Ash'rily. These victories in spite of our numbers. In Ash Sea Islands, every soldier is treated as an equal.

Abingtonian Oppressors Driven out of Lerss

Loyal Government Returns

Officials of the ASI government returned to Lerss under the protection of the army. Abingtonian puppets and sympathizers left their ill-gotten positions and fled to the hills, seeing that resistance was futile and that they had no support amongst the people. The white beaches of Lerss will once again be open to the tourist trade in days according to locals.

Victory in Western Skirmishes

Rats and Vultures Driven Off

Elements of the army have attacked various bands of rats and vultures that have filtered into Ash Sea Islands western reaches from various bandit kingdoms. These forces skulk about and have several times attacked innocent civilian farmsteads, stealing chickens, silverware, and children's underwear. These honorless packs of wild dogs have been swatted away several times by the border guards. Defenders in the region remain vigilant for any more incursions.

King's Questions

This space reserved for questions posed to the King or other officers of the Ash Sea Islands government. Due to pressing constraints imposed by the war, answers could not be received by press time. In recent days however, the King has addressed various domestic issues such as tax concerns and the appointment of nobles and officials. As always, the discussions between King and subject in Ash Sea Islands have been open and meaningful.

ASI Profile

This space reserved for a profile of some of the honorables who make up the Ash Sea Islands. We will profile one subject or family each issue. This issue, we profile the lovely Kitusi Firefox. Encountered at a field camp, we asked her to tell something of herself and she was most forthcoming.

"My father Dramex Firefox, like most members of our family was born in Ash Sea Islands, but travelled to the Far East to become a trader. I went with him, but quickly became bored with the life and signed myself on to the military of Highland Empire." The charming lass paused briefly, gritting her teeth in thought, "I did have to fake my age...hehe, but it taught me some valuable lessons and hardships. But when I discovered that my home land was under siege, and the Highland Empire was going through turbulant times, I hopped the next ship to Ash Sea Islands to help my family in their time of need."

"My family has a long past, my ancestors are originally from the Talerium desert I was told. I also read that a certain Prince Zetcher, who once was a loyal troop leader to Talerium and duke of Mapaxal actually suceeded from Talerium and founded West Talerium to provide some of Talerium's people with the old ways of life they used to know and love. You see, according to the text my family still holds, Talerium was becoming more of a buearucracy and many were not fond of it. It's complicated and I do not remember all of the details, but my family's most recent generations took place in Ash'rily, our homeland."

"I guess the most famous of my family today would be Darfix Firefox, who used to be the High Marshal of Varyamo Nolvo, but now is a Baron in Sirion on the East Continent. He used to be affiliated with a band of Pirates and did much travelling. Because of this he and his crew managed to discover the West Continent which to my understanding is being colonized to this day. Sienna Firefox used to be the Supreme Judge of Fontan, but had a misunderstanding with the corrupt government at the time and was deported to the South East Island, where she has been a Count and battle hardened Hero for quite some time. Sadly I do not know much about all of the relatives in my family, that including Sukira of Minas Ithil. All I know is she has fought hard to save Ash Sea Islands from Abington aggression and has been fined heavily, and reprimanded on several accounts by her government." the young lass says with a sigh.

"As for the future of Ash Sea Islands, I--feel in my age I cannot make an accurate guess, but I do hope for a long period of peace and prosperity in the future. I want Ash Sea Islands to stand proud and tall for many more generations...and that is a vision I would die to have happen..."
