BREAKING NEWS: ASI MOVES ON THE ISLANDS

A fast moving ASI force descended on Yacon, pushed through minimal resistance, and began moving through the islands in an effort to reclaim the ancestral homelands. Abingtonian troop leaders encountered in Yacon were given the opportunity to leave. In Yacon and further south, ASI forces encountered the heartbreaking scene of bands of skeletal starving peasants searching for food. Initial reports indicate that a majority of peasants welcome arriving ASI troops.

BREAKING NEWS: WAR ON THE HORIZON

Once again, the realms of Ash Sea Islands and Abington hurtle toward conflict. The causes and conditions have been argued, no resolutions have been reached. This is a continuation of what the Ashlantean people have endured before. We have welcomed the brief respite, the days of peace, the tournament, seeing friends and allies from all over the continent once again, perhaps for the last time.

At the climax of the last war with Abington, the Ashlantean people loudly voiced their desire to go out fighting on the walls of Ser'quea. But our King imposed his will and, out of love for country, insisted that we still breathe and live for a span. We thank him for that because these short days have been good and memorable times.

But the eye of the storm is passing and every Ashlantean is prepared for the ending of the story. We are not sure what the last chapter will be, but we will write our parts in it honorably.

Alliance with Carelia

In a surprising move, King Doc's Revenge announced an Alliance with Carelia earlier this week in the "Good Neighbour Alliance" treaty. In it, both realms agreed not to invade each other for any reason - even for other allies. With the advent of this treaty, perhaps now both our realms can put the past behind us.

Tournament in Ser'quea

Last weekend, one of the greatest tournaments in living memory was held in Ser'quea, the capital of the Ash Sea Islands. In a celebration of the favourable relations our kingdom had garnered of late, King Doc's Revenge held what he had initially presumed would be a small tournament. Little did he know that by it's end the tournament was to break records in not only the number of Nobles attending a tournament but also for number of ale barrels drained. Indeed it broke the number of nobles present at our last tournament by a large margin, and back then the amount of gold on offer was even higher! Of course anyone who has been to one of these tournaments will know that it isnt just the Jousting and Swordfighting that makes a tournament, but also the pre-tournament banter and events that take place! Indeed, the main events were almost usurped by other goings on! Listed below are just some of the amazing things we saw and heard of in the run up to the tournament:

  • Many an Ashlantean, for the first time in their lives learned of the delicacy that is horse testicles from Nobles from the Barony of Makar. Although we cannot name an Ashlantean who tried the dish, Usanth of Tara tried it and proclaimed it "not that bad."
  • Edgar McBane, General of the Barony of Makar displayed how the Vikings Jousted and also curiously alluded to Horseless Jousting, though alas we don't recall having the pleasure of seeing that strange sight while waiting for the Tournament to begin.
  • Our very own Keiichi and General Malice held a day long drinking contest several days before the start of the tournament. Keiichi fell unconscious and had lost by late afternoon. Leading to her face being..well, defaced by Duke Moses. A hollow win for Malice however as he ended up drinking even greater amounts after learning of his success leading to copious vomiting.
  • Aethelmaer of Tara was curiously found bound and dangling from the rafters by his feet in the stables, his face being provided with a wonderful and smelly view of a horses arse. Eventually he was cut down by our very own, General Malice. Though not before Night Hawk of Talerium had emptied his pockets of any gold..

Although there is much more to tell there just simply isnt enough room in the issue to tell it. And of course, although the events preceeding the tournament were memorable, it was nothing compared to when the largest tournament ever held got underway. Such furious single combat and jousting we have never previously seen! In the end, after 276 Nobles fought to be named as the best Swordsman and Jousts at the tournament, the winners were named as follows:

Final in Swordfighting: In a long struggle, Moses (ASI) defeated Gekko Atrox (ASI) for First place!

Final in Jousting: DrSeptre (Barony of Makar) memorably defeated Trantante (Falasan) 2 to 1 in the Joust!

A fantastic outcome, to what has been a truly amazing tournament! We hope all the participants enjoyed a safe journey back to their respective realms and wish the winners every success in their future endeavours.

King's Statement

To be perfectly honest, I was quite surprised with all the change around us these recent weeks. Shamus--an excellent King, gone--and Carriantor--another honorable King, gone.

On other matters, however, we offered RedSpan an identical proposition, as the one Kronos offered to us--which we accepted. However, Manaydur shot it down, and I have decided that we will not work with a man that clings so ardently to another realm's tit. We hope that he will abdicate or step down someday soon...so that ASI and RedSpan can work towards the same kind of progress achieved under Kronos in Carelia. It is true for many that noted, Manaydur has little respect in my eyes, but I value the realm he happens to be the voice of...so the status qou shall remain: Peace between our nations. If Manaydur goes through with what he implied, however, RedSpan will live with the consequences...be they a peaceful return of Byblack and Sullenport, or any other fate in which ASI is partially involved.
