Region Taxes

Archachon uses a traditional tax model, as follows:

  • Realm taxes for Imperial regions (those not in a duchy) are set to 0%.
  • The tax on the Duchy tax is set to 0 (for the reason mentioned above).
  • The only income will be from the Property and Wealth taxes, and will be distributed such that it is evenly distributed between Ruler/Judge/Banker/General.
  • Essentially, this means that the principal source of income for a noble is from their immediate Liege. This will naturally encourage all nobles to find a Liege.

Property and Wealth Taxes

  • To prevent hoarding of gold and bonds, the Property and Wealth taxes are set as follows:
  • Property Tax is 25% on anything over 250 gold or bonds.
  • Wealth Tax is 25% on anything over 500 gold or bonds.

A quick explanation on Property (and Wealth) taxes:

  • You get taxed only for what you have on hand right before you get the taxes, not on the income you just got from the taxes. So if you had 0 gold and bonds on hand, taxes occur and you get 350 gold, then you do not get taxed.
  • You get taxed only on what is above the limit. So if you had 350 gold on hand and taxes occur, then you will get taxed on 350-250=100 gold. Assuming property taxes are 25%, then this means you pay 100 gold x 25% = 25 gold.
  • Gold and taxes are counted separately. So if you had 250 gold and 250 bonds right before taxes, then you would pay no property taxes.

Food

All food is the property of the state and will be used for the benefit of the whole realm. Region Lords will ensure that they have enough for their region and will send any surplus to a point designated by the Treasurer. This food will first be used to satisfy any internal needs. Some may be stored in the capitol as a strategic reserve, but generally the surplus will be sold.

Food is to be shipped as follows:

  • Ecsetuah, Mnalor, Rrerat, Enlod -> Soniel
  • Rapael, Itomazh -> Enlod

Upon each sale a report message will be sent to the High Council. The monies from the sale will also be sent to the Treasurer who will distribute it according to legitimate need and requests around the realm. Unless saving for a specific expensive project, the money should all be distributed every tax period with a low or zero balance remaining. Every Tax day, the Treasurer will produce a short statement for the whole realm detailing how much gold was raised and how it was allocated.

Income / Disbursement

The following represents the proceeds from the sale of food, and the disbursements that were made by the Banker. Note that the Banker doesn't actually receive the gold from the sale of food, but he is expected to collect that gold from the Lord who did make the sale.

Income:

  • Sept 16: 270 gold from sale of food
  • Oct 17: 120 gold from sale of food

Disbursements:

  • Sept 18: 150 bonds to Lord Arijn Sukayo (new lord, and he had received no gold)
  • Sept 18: 100 bonds to Lord Marius Devonshire (new lord)
  • Sept 28: 100 bonds to Lord Arijn Sukayo (new lord, again)
  • Sept 28: 25 bonds to each of 6 lords (the rest of the gold from the sale of food was distributed)
  • Oct 2: 75 bonds to Sir Karij Sukayo (requested gold to set up estates)
  • Oct 3: 50 gold to Sir Sammael Von Lichtenstein (requested gold to set up estates)
  • Oct 19: 150 gold to Lady Farnese Vanimedle' (to help with infrastructure in Ecsetuah)
  • Oct 19: 50 gold to Sir Karij Sukayo (requested gold)
  • Oct 19: 50 gold to Dame Honoria Endellion (to pay unit and repairs)
