Anthaigos Family/Mentor Lessons/Have Fun

Once you master the basic game mechanics, it is the time to have some fun. Here is a modest list of some of the ways you can do just that:

- Create a background to your character. What is his family like? How did your character end up where he did? What is the history of the family?

- Build some character to your character. It is much more fun to play a character than play as yourself. What ambitions does your character have in life? What is his long term goal? What are his short term goals? What are the things he enjoys and the things that disgust him? Is he extroverted or introverted? Is he task or people oriented? What does he believe in? Did he have a happy childhood or perhaps a dark one? What tragedies has he gone through that shape him for what he is the present day? Does he believe in individuality or in the community? Is he a man of the words or a man of the sword? These are but a few questions to think about when relating to the character you play.

- Interact. Make friends. Find some excuse to write to people. You could start with your liege, to discuss with him the situation your region is in and how you could help it. If he is willing, you could even discuss your plans for your future. Then expand to the other knights of your region, if there are more. If not, you are all the more valuable to your region. Join guilds that suit the interests of your character and advance there, to make your character known and respected. See what different religions there are available, both in your realm and outside of it, and see if any of them would suit your character. In other words, do try to find a group of people that enjoy writing just like you do. In a large realm it is hard to get noticed, so you do it little by little in smaller circles.

- Create chaos. It is good to disrupt the harmony every now and then and do something that seems to run contrary to what is generally accepted. You could get into a heated and bitter argument with another noble about something. But always do this in character. Never let the chaos you or other create come to the level of out-of-character(OOC) hatred. You create chaos and experience the chaos that the others create because that makes the life in this imagined world interesting. Granted, harmony is often more effective in building a succesful realm. When everyone always follows the orders and does what the great mastermind on the top says, things tend to move smoothly and battles are won, more land is gained. But such a realm is boring in the long run, and such a character is boring right from the start. Boring characters do not attract interaction, so the player gets bored.

Go create some chaos, but with a good taste, and in moderation.
