A large and ugly monster is the last to fall and after that Asturius finds a very interesting and mysterious book. The Ancient Tome of South Divide!

The book now resides in the library of Brennus Petrus, knight of Orz, Pian en Luries. Clues as to the uses of the book come from his journal:

My men and I fought in Grodno today. Before the battle, I read from that queer tome that I acquired from a commoner some time ago. The words are written in a tongue I am unfamiliar with, and I believe it to be some sort of book of wizardry. After I read the words aloud, the air became still, as if it was waiting for something. I stored the book, then readied for battle.

We charged the monsters at sunrise, and as my unit charged, a stiff wind blew behind us. With each step towards the monsters, the intensity of the wind increased, until my men were practically weightless, borne forth to battle by the winds behind us. When we engaged the monsters, the fierce winds to our rear became pregnant with sand, bringing to bear a full-fledged sandstorm upon the battlefield. My men and the monsters both were having difficulty breathing from the sand , and the wind made communication impossible. Our visibility was coming very close to nil, and, after losing sight of all but three of my men, I ordered the retreat. Those are the only three men that survived.

After treating our wounds, I left the men in a village to rest, and I walked towards the Palm Sea desert with the book under my arm. I mounted a hill, and the desert was spread out in front of me as a beautiful carpet, like those made by the nomad craftsmen in the area. I pulled the tome out from under my arm, and instantly was confused. The ink, which, earlier today was a simple black, was now a deep red hue. Not daring to read from it again, I took it back to the village, and, as I stored it, I looked at the words one last time. The ink was black once again. Surely this is a book of wizardry! I wonder what other secrets it has yet to divulge...
