A small sampling of the letters that sparked the beginning of the Akadian League and removal of Ohnar West from the northern alliance. These are the letters that are the best evidence for Ohnar West's despicible views on nobility.

Shortenered Version

Perhaps with time I can convince you that nobility is in the eye, not simply in the veins of the beholder. - (Knight Kayne II quoting Duke Louis)

He was chosen not based upon his blood or his name, but based upon his knowledge and familiarity of the needs of Sasrhas. - (Count Iceberg)

but the fact remains that Duke Louis, whether once common or not, is the Duke of Sasrhas. - (Count Iceberg)

One's roots and history have little use to a forward-looking nation such as ours. - (Count Iceberg)

I am implying that to recklessly insult a Duke is at least as deserving of punishment as being of common origins. At least the Duke of common origins has proven his worth to Ohnar West by deeds. - (Count Iceberg)

Finally, I do have one piece of advice for the newcomer to our realm... "Interesting. Vile, foul, against the natural order, but interesting."... perhaps these are not the most diplomatic words to have chosen about a condition that is perfectly natural to Ohnar West. - (Count Iceberg)

Honour, Courage, Loyalty and Respect, these our are virtues. We judge others by these qualities not their blood line. If you cannot come to accept this than I suggest you leave. I understand if some of you choose to fine a more "pure" realm. - (Prime Minister Cornelius II)

You may not realize it, but I've worked my way up from adventuring in caves and defending the duchy of Sasrhas. I'm quite active in the Adventurer's Haven guild, working to help advance the cause of those who also are from humble beginnings. Perhaps with time I can convince you that nobility is in the eye, not simply in the veins of the beholder.

Louis Lious Strategic Commander of Ohnar West, Senator of Sasrhas

We have a peasant Duke? I am new to these lands and all, but the way I was raised, I have the right to beat him to half an inch of his life for that, and finish him, should I feel like it.

Sir Kayne,

Such words about a sitting Duke are harsh indeed. As you are new to our lands, allow me to illuminate some of our history...

Duke Louis was appointed as the steward of Sasrhas as my handpicked successor several months ago as I tended to my dying parents at my family's estates in Upasael. Prior to this, the Duchy of Sasrhas was under my control for as long back as before the foundation of Cathay. In fact, it was the foundation of that realm that ultimately precipitated the formation of Ohnar West.

He was chosen not based upon his blood or his name, but based upon his knowledge and familiarity of the needs of Sasrhas. He has served the Duchy with unquestionable dedication since his first days in this land, and he has been recognized by many, including myself, as deserving of the fruits of a noble life.

This history lesson is quite informative... but the fact remains that Duke Louis, whether once common or not, is the Duke of Sasrhas. And for insulting the Duke as you have in your letter, one could argue that you are as deserving of the beating as he.

But let us realize in our nobility... these back and forth insults solve nothing. One's roots and history have little use to a forward-looking nation such as ours. To focus on yesterday dims our prospects for tomorrow, especially in these times.

In reference to this...

"And for insulting the Duke as you have in your letter, one could argue that you are as deserving of the beating as he."

Lord Iceberg, are you implying that you believe Duke Louis deserves to be beaten as a commoner?

Lady Taylin Indirik (Dame of Sanzzos)

Lady Taylin, I do not agree that the Duke Louis deserves a beating. I am implying that to recklessly insult a Duke is at least as deserving of punishment as being of common origins. At least the Duke of common origins has proven his worth to Ohnar West by deeds.

As for Sir Kayne's statements regarding who I might be, his questions regarding my sanity, and his prowess in battle with reference to whomever might attempt to administer a hypothetical beating... these I will deign to address other than to reiterate that our nation needs less bickering and insults on all levels.

Finally, I do have one piece of advice for the newcomer to our realm... "Interesting. Vile, foul, against the natural order, but interesting."... perhaps these are not the most diplomatic words to have chosen about a condition that is perfectly natural to Ohnar West.

All Newcomers of Ohnar West,

The ways of Ohnar West are different but they are what many have come to know and cherish.

Honour, Courage, Loyalty and Respect, these our are virtues. We judge others by these qualities not their blood line. If you cannot come to accept this than I suggest you leave. I understand if some of you choose to fine a more "pure" realm.

If you wish to continue this discussion please do so behind closed doors. Do not poison this realm with your seeds of disrest.

yours,
Cornelius II Hsieh (Prime Minister of Ohnar West, Marshal of the First Army of West Ohnar)
