Carmen

We are strongest under one flag.

The belt and lock tightens on the young, but loosens for the mature.

When the gates have fallen, loyalty shall keep you strong.

Symbolism in Appearance

Calanthe is almost always seen wearing her translucent robes. Her blurred pale skin gleams through its woven seems, revealing her naked body only when it tightens to the robe itself. The reason for this has been hypothesized by the few who have seen her. Most believe she represents the freedom from clothed allegiance - sigils, colors, embles, and so on - in a protest against religious division and tolerance. Others delve deeper, thinking that her being seen as "human" is intentional, reinforcing the popular theory through allegiance to humanity as a whole.

Calanthe's Unity

Pure unity - where men do not fight and pursue one unified goal - is impossible in a reality with humans. Instead, the unity Calanthe seeks for the faithful is one that accommodates for our different opinions and convictions, with difficult yet achievable ends. One religion, the pyrist faith, one culture, the honorable culture, and one mind, the will to abide by these ends in everyday life.

There will always be separate realms, different laws, and varying purposes for each individual soul; but through the three ends, enduring prosperity is achievable.

The counterbalance of innocence

Calanthe also maintains guardianship over the innocent: the woman, the child, and the virgin. However, not all women are innocent, nor is every child saintly and every young girl a virgin. Those who follow the code of unity set by man: loyalty, honour, and verity are blessed by her watchful eye. If a virgin becomes a loyal wife, she loses nothing in Calanthe's eyes, for virtue has been preserved through alternative means. Those who sully the innocent earn Calanthe's wrath as retribution, through mishaps, loss of soul, or eternal regret. Death is hardly the resolution, as Calanthe believes in the plight of those who repent.
