Aeterdust Family/Chani

Redheaded Chani comes from a distanced and impoverished branch of the Aeterdust family. So impoverished that her close relatives no longer were considered or lived as highborn. It was her great luck when, at age 8, she was called by Lord Paulus in Sirion to serve as his daughter’s handmaiden. She attended to Irulan‘s every need whether it was to prepare a bath or to serve as a fighting partner in her early swordfighting lessons. A clever and ambitious girl, Chani secretly hoped that serving Irulan might somehow raise her back to the nobility from which her predecesors had descended. To that end she faithfully followed Irulan to Beluaterra when given the chance, although it meant leaving her homeland, possibly forever. But later when Irulan chose to return to the East Island, Chani chose to stay behind. She could not bare return as she had left, a lowly handmaiden. Irulan did not approve, but she had given Chani the choice and she would not go back on her word and take that away from her. Chani roamed the continent of Beluaterra searching for ways to gain admitance to the ranks of nobility. In the realm of Riombara, she heard of those that called themselves adventurers, leading a life of danger, battling monsters and dealing with strange items. She heard some of those had been recognized as nobles after many troubles and then she made her decision.

She had found her destiny, her chance was not in a life of servitude to the highborn but in a life of adventure…

Yet her dream was never fulfilled. After traveling through Riombara for two years, gaining experience in battle and trying her fortune with repairing unique items (and experiencing some rather distressing events, most of them including Taron's Warhammer of Blood) she was killed in a duel.
