Visions, Omens and Portents concerning the relics of the Way.

The Events in Itomazh - The slaughter of the Elders of the region

Shortly after the discovery of the first two books of relics Anulith had a dream. This is a retelling of that dream, preserved as best time has allowed it to be.

We were on the mainland, quite possibly Unotosa, searching for something. I didn't know what it was only that it was very important that we find it. We were in the middle of a desert wilderness with nothing but sand and eroded rock towers surrounding us. Suddenly someone shouted that they had found something. It was a small cave of sorts.

We entered the cave. It was quite damp and cool compared to the extremes outside. The next thing I remember is someone (his face eludes me but he seemed to have characteristics of Dormondt and Elerik Taim yet somehow I could tell he was neither) raising a book or relic (for some reason I can't quite remember which one it was) above his head and laughing maniacally.

With our quest complete our troops disbanded and each noble went his or her own way home. I was travelling through Soniel on my way to Enlod with my troop when a messenger found me and reported that monsters were attacking a nearby village. I cockily sent out a message to the other nobles letting them know that we would take care of the monsters.

When we reached the village it was completely deserted. No one could be seen anywhere. We found a small group of the monsters near a creek that ran by the town. When we approached to attack however, we were quickly surrounded. Monsters seemed to pour out of the shadows. These were no ordinary monsters though. For starters monsters have never shown this kind of intelligence. Never before have they planned out an ambush such as this. Second, they didn't look like any monster I had ever seen before. They wore a black armore and had a very dark green skin. They wielded weapons the same as we do. It was not long at all before my entire troop was torn to shreds. I was the only one remaining alive. I fled to a nearby house.

I quickly baracaded the doorways and retreated to the upstairs room. I blocked off the stairway and started to try and defend myself by shooting at them with my bow out the windows. However, when I looked down at my bow I saw that it was broken in two. I tried in vain to use it anyway. I looked out the window and was horrified by what I saw. It was clear that one of the monsters was the troop leader. The other monsters seemed to be following his orders. This wasn't what horrified me the most though. There were a few monsters who seemed to be shooting fire out of their hands!

Just as they were closing in I managed to escape out a window and I ran the creek bed all the way back to Enlod. This is when I awoke.

Anulith recounted this dream to all the nobles of Arcachon at the time. His childhood friend, Vite LaMorte, accompanied him to visit the elders of his home village in Itomazh. There he recounted the dream to the elders of the village (who also happened to include Anulith's mother). These are interpretations pulled from this dream.

  • The nobles of Arcachon would go on a quest to find some great relic.
  • It is now generally accepted that the reason Anulith could not remember if the item were a relic or a book is because the item was indeed the famed Book of Relics.
  • The noble seen holding the Book the Relics is generally thought to have been an embodiment of Adaghar. The reason his face could not be seen is because he will use different followers in different ways at different times to achieve his own goals.
  • The search/finding of the Book of Relics will be directly responsible for the deaths of many.
  • The monsters in the dream seem to have been the original inhabitants of the island, the Dark Elves. No one has seen them in a long time.
  • The broken bow that Anulith tried to use showed that our current weapons will be useless against these monsters.
  • No one knows what the meaning of the fire shooting from their hands is. We can only hope that it was indeed just part of the dream and had no meaning.

After his talks with the Elders in Itomazh, Anulith and Vite hurried back to Enlod for a meeting at the Gathering Hall of the nobles. The topic of discussion was to be his dream and the recent discovery of two of the books of the relics of The Way. The books had been thought to not be real, only a tool for instruction up until this time. In the middle of the meeting a young boy interupted the nobles and came to Anulith. The boy was badly injured and Anulith soon recognized him as someone he had grown up with. Shortly after he and Vite left, the town was attacked by monsters wearing black armor. All the elders were killed, including Anulith's mother. Anulith's suspicion immediately rose as the only ones who knew where he was going and for what reason were the other nobles.

The Larmebsi Prophecy

High Priest Elerik Taim Olik, in the region of Larmebsi, was preaching and gaining followers when he was approached by a grief-stricken widow who demanded, bitterly and sarcastically, that Adaghar restore her only surviving child, a blind girl named Ryla, to full-sightedness. Elerik made no such promise, but he offered to pray with them both. When he went to the hut to meet her, though, both mother and he were astonished to see that the girl had recognized Elerik by name - and by his nickname of The Seeker from long back - and began to speak in a voice that sounded preternaturally old.

"I bring a message, priest. You seek the Relics of the Gods. Hast thou in thy arrogance forgotten the will of man and demon? They shall oppose your search. Many will die. You will fall. Yet still you search."

"Seek then the Foot of the Black-Haired Scourge. Pass the Forsaken One and break through his False Stone. There your quest will resume. But beware, Elerik Taim. For you will sacrifice something of great value to you. And thereafter, upon each successful step toward the Relics, the seekers shall sacrifice yet something else. Will the ends be worth the sacrifices? Ask not me, Seeker."

The girl and mother both fainted, and upon waking the girl was her normal self - and quite blind. The mother remembered little of what had happened and, after constructing what he called the Shrine of the Oracle in that village, Elerik Taim went north to reveal what he had heard. According to him, the girl's prophetic voice had reminded him of Lechis, and the prophecy, despite its warning, renewed in him a burning desire to seek the Books, the Relics, and to further the Faith.

The Vision of Octavio

I had a dream the other night and this is how it went:

I saw one of the relics of the Gods in Niel. Then Elerik went there to get it and I saw Sito stab him when he went to reach for the relic.

I then saw the banner of Sartina going through the south entrance of Enlod. I saw soldiers walking on the banner of Arcachon. I saw men standing around the temple with torches and the temple burning to the ground.

I saw lots of wolves running around in the woods, I seen men shooting at them with arrows. I saw men on horses chasing them with hunting falcons flying in the air. I have seen lots of wolf skins hanging up to dry and being shipped to lands in the south for money.

Then I saw Sito in Enlod ordering the construction of a new temple in Enlod a temple of Sartan.
