The Federation of the South

Jan 2006 - Following the ASI-Abington war, Gabriel offered to solidify the partnerships of Carelia and RedSpan (Pink) into a Federation as a sign of everlasting alliances.

In February, Tara and the Cagilan Empire (blue) continued their hostilities, always looking for the easy opportunity, and choose to camp in Meldeen in great force. Darka also brought a sizable contingent to help enforce Tara's position.

ASI choose to pick on RedSpan, claiming that Rogeshore, Sullenport and Byblack did not belong to RedSpan. It was sickening to see CE and Taran forces rubbing shoulder with ASI and Falasan, the intentions were dark for RedSpan.

Between the three corner regions of Meldeen, Byblack, and Stargard there was a total of over 120k cs with of military represented by ASI, Falasan, Tara, Cagilan Empire, Carelia, RedSpan and Abington. To say things were tense and on the verge of a monumental battle would be almost on the mark.

========================================================================================

Gabriel Bachelor

Elected King of Abington replacing his foster father, Drago Dragonheart, after playing the role of High Marshal in the war against Redspan/Carelia in the days of Ry2n and later Manaydur (on Redspan side) and Wintermute and later Aramil (on Carelia side).

By the time he was elected, Abington was in war stance with 6 other realms and had in ASI the only ally. The alliance with ASI was the heritage Drago left for Gabriel, alliance that was only possible due to a treaty signed between Drago of Abington and Talius Sargeras of ASI, addressing to important issues and trying to fix sorrows and wounds opened in the previous wars between their realms. The possession of Ash´rily, former ASI capital, and the Islands were in the core of the problem. Initially an ASI possession, later conquered by Abington, the Island remained in Abignton control for decades, longer then it ever was in ASI control, but ASI feelings for that land was never dead.

During his rulership, Gabriel continued with his mentor's policy to remove Abington from its isolation, thus focused in solving the disputes and quarrels with Abington enemies. His policy made the creation of a Southern Federation possible, constituted by Abington and two of its former enemies, Carelia and RedSpan. Despite some internal resistance against such approach, Gabriel proceeded in working his way into making former enemies friends. Peace was reached with Taleruim under the Nzer Agreement and Additional Protocol; with Darka and Eston. A respectful neutrality was reached with CE and Tara. After years in war, Abington was finally in peace in all its borders with no war stance with any realm. Suville was reconquered and Abington became whole again.

During this period of prosperity, problems with ASI began to sprout. It is accounted to the lack of flexibility of the new rulers of both realms and different interpretations of the treaty signed by the previous administrations to be the cause of the rupture between Abington and ASI. Tensions over the Island grew and based on contacts made by the government of ASI to Abington historical enemies over the possibility of a joint attack, Abington preemptively attacks ASI. As a result, Abington took back the region given to ASI under the treaty signed by Drago/Talius and the alliance between the two was destroyed. Gabriel became the #1 hated personality in ASI ever since, accumulating the highest bounty in Atamara.

In the end of Gabriel's rulership, Abington regained the position of largest, wealthiest and most powerful realm in Atamara, with the biggest region count of Abington history. At the side of his federated brothers, he recreated the past alliance that were destroyed during Armitage III's first rulership and reduced Abington enemy count to 2. On the other hand, the instability generated by the dissolution of Abington/ASI alliance was the seed responsible for the beginning of the War of Dishonour, as it is known in Abington.

Acclaimed as one of the greatest rulers Abinton ever had, Gabriel was a key player in Atamara diplomacy. The Age of Gabriel was the period of the greatest prosperity of Abington in all fronts. But it came with some costs. The change in the status quo and balance of power provoked a series of war around the Federation borders.
