The House of Striga

Katarina von Striga

The Striga are apparently a young noble family that first presented themselves to the peerage on the Dragon Isles of D'Hara, Dwilight.

Members of the House are notable for their exceedingly pale skin and nearly ethereal features. This is contrasted by lush, silky hair (usually red or black) and piercing grey eyes. They are far from being a friendly family: Striga Scions are often cold and harsh individuals. They are however not impolite and will entreat allies with the necessary decorum. The Striga are a largely taciturn House, not prone to socialising with peers on a regular basis.

Their strange behaviour and striking physical characteristics have given rise to dark whispers that perhaps there is more to the Striga than meets the eye. If they are aware of these rumours then the House cares little of them, for the Striga have never addressed the issue.

Warfare

When called to battle, the Striga don intimidating gothic full plate coloured the blackest of jet. The intricately embellished set of armour will often be paired with a thick cloak of rich crimson. A sallet is usually the helm of choice for its excellent protective coverage of the face and head. Most Striga Scions are familiar with the tactically flexible hand-and-a-half bastard sword. Alternatively, more belligerent individuals may choose to wield the impressive doppelhänder great sword.

By contrast, the smallfolk soldiery that bear House Striga's colours are often poorly equipped. The Striga provide their levies with helms and crude shields, but weaponry must be sourced by the soldiers themselves. Polearms such as spears or bills are the norm, with very few managing to afford a decent blade. They are led into battle and kept in line under the watchful eye of their noble Scion or a favoured Captain.

Blazon

The arms of House Striga are Per pale sable and sanguine, a bat displayed counterchanged.
