The history of the Vincent family is long and tedious, followed by a brief period of something slightly interesting, followed again by a period of long tedium. Nevertheless, we chronicle their story here.

The Vincent family has for ages been a family of minor nobility, with none of its members doing anything of note. As the years pass, it sees its generations scatter in the winds, to distant isles and unexplored lands, to make their fortune or simply live out their lives. Some come home, some stay where they fell.

The current scions of the Vincent family descend from two branches of the family, their grandparents in common. There exist of age and making their way in the world today two sets of brothers, scattered across lands and making their fortunes or simply living out their lives as they will.

Lucian and Orphen

Lucian Vincent

Lucian Vincent, the older of this set of brothers, set out from the family's ancestral home of Ornaz in the Far East to the East Island, to find himself in the southern realm of Itorunt at the tail end of the Itorunt-Ibladesh war. The most warrior-like of all this generation of Vincent, he declared himself a hero of the old school and has since followed that oath during the recent conflicts. He has since been appointed Marshal of Semall, and commands respect in some quarters of Itorunt and other realms.

Lucian is a true warrior, cunning yet honourable, respectful of his enemies even as he fights them. While sometimes frustrated with the stagnation he sees around him, he abides by the rules the powers above him have set for him and follows both them and the orders his General gives him to bring honour to himself and the family.

Orphen Vincent

Orphen Vincent

The younger to Lucian, Orphen remained close to the family's home in the Far East, becoming a noble in the realm of Taith Aenil. Following a more peaceful, scholarary way of life than the others of his generation, he quickly ascended the ranks to become Count of Larmebsi. Not long after, he was appointed Haruspex Maximus. Since then, he as served both in battle and as the home guard to maintain security and discipline on more than one occasion for his realm.

His realm mates, and some of other realms, know that although he follows the philosophy of peace and learning on the outside, on the inside he has a dark streak which haunts and follows him always. Rarely has anyone seen this dark side of him lash out, but those closest to him know that he is fighting a losing battle to run from the hate and anger he has bottled, unknowingly and with no apparent source, in himself. Many have suggested he speak to the priests of Taith Aenil and allow the Angels to lead him on the path, but Orphen has long vehemently refused, a kind of depression and harshness coming over him whenever someone brings up the topic.

Keyser and Sibelius

Keyser Vincent

Keyser Vincent

The oldest of the four, Keyser made his way to the South-East Island, where he has served with honour in the army of Sandalak. Since then, he has fought in the battles which have seen Sandalak sieze control of the entire north-east of the island, and destroy the hated realm of Ikalak. He has been appointed the Marquis of Korlok, and the honourary position of Minister of Propaganda. All those that have been honoured with a medal of Sandalak have recieved the award from his hand.

Keyser is the darkest and least merciful of all the brothers. While known as a polite and intelligent man to his fellow nobles, he is brutal to his enemies, both in debate and in battle, and has been known to be something of a sadist. While not on the path for political power as Lucian and Orphen, he aims for power which will make him feared throughout all the islands. Most curiously, he desires this not to influence lesser nobles, not to command loyalty or to be loyal to a greater power, but simply for the pleasure of being feared.

Sibelius Vincent

Sibelius has had misfortune follow him through most of his life. When he arrived in Atamara, he had the misfortune of becoming a noble of Southasland the day before it was destroyed. In his desperation, he joined Minas Ithil by falsely swearing an oath of fealty, before heading to Caligan. Having been turned down there, he knew only that Tara had declared open borders for any refugees from Southasland. Making his way there, he fought as Tara, as well, collapsed around him. In a last act of desperation, he offered to rejoin Minas Ithil, claiming he had no idea of the ways of the island, but was turned down.

He escaped the war, escaped Tara, and has not been conclusively heard from since.

Sibelius is the black sheep of the family. The member of the Vincent family with the least ability, he has a history of bad judgements, and is not known to be particularly brave or noble, although his sometime ill-meaning actions are often born out of cowardice or irrational desperation than true malice. While his situation makes him more pitied by Orphen, and to a lesser degree by Lucian, Keyser has been offended by his brother either by these actions or actions past, and has vowed to scour all the islands of the world so that he may restore honour where Sibelius has made it disappear.
