The V'Orlan family was raised into nobility by the actions of Rogos V'Orlan at the first Battle of Brive during its first attempted recapture.

Rogos was knighted after the Battle of Brive by Duke Fontaine of Perdan, as reward for vicious fighting during the rearguard action of the Perdanian withdrawal from Brive, and for recovering the sword of King Kay after he had been struck down on the battlefield.

With the consent of Earl deLacy Family, Rogos took hold of the Coastal Territory of Perdan Mines.
