A New Squad
Ferocious glee lights the eyes of the little Twix lady as she reads the red page in her hands.
"Yaaah! Here we go for some action! Godgiva, get those lazy lumps on their feet, double quivers. We march on Asker to give those masked BBQ wreckers a Portion of arrows!"
She leaps to her feet with grace and speed that belies the silver streaks through her dark hair and hastens off to her chamber to prepare, teeth bared in a wide grin that is more bloodthirsty than happy.
Fey strode out ahead of the column, long dark braid threaded with silver swinging behind, her small figure nonetheless radiating power and presence that pulled irresistibly at her weary Squad. They followed to a man, despite injuries, despite nagging doubts that this commander was who she said she was.
What kind of commander showed up looking like she could be their parent, or even (spry) grandparent, with documents saying she was in her twenties? This woman told grand tales of the monster continent and Daimon invasions, and claimed she had once gone to war alongside the Outer Tilogians they now fought against, to rid the continent of a realm none of the Squad had heard of. There was something about her that inspired curiosity at least. She had not led them false yet, had paid when gold was due. There was a sense about her that things would happen where she went. So far, the Squad had not been able to guess what she would do next, other than step to each new challenge with energy and fervour.
So they followed to Frundi, with many shrugs and shaking heads, while their commander did not once look back.
