Perdan Declares War on Caligus Beginning the War!

In retaliation of Caligus's declaration of war on Itorunt, as well as building tensions of the previous months, Perdan declared war on Caligus, starting the War of the Lions.

Perdan and Caligus clashed for the first time:

First Blood is drawn in Bursa. Caligan Victory. This battle took place at sunset Thursday (09/10/09).

Whether the first skirmish was unknowingly intentional or not, it could not be clearer that the Perdan Murderous Wrath intentionally struck out at Bursa immediately following the first failed skirmish:
