headline = Obsidian Islands Emerges!|

article = Duke Prometheus of Old Rancagua has seceded Kalmar city to form the realm Obsidian Islands. The region of Stora joined in the secession. In a few days Duke Atticus of Perdan will realign the duchy of Chaos Temple to the new realm, taking the remaining five regions of the traditional island realm to the new kingdom.

The Council positions are expected to be filled by Shady Soulja (King) and Paul Aelradir (Banker) from OR and Karlson Solarin (Arch Priest) and Kerwyn T-style (High Marshal) from Perdan.

The other Perdanese that have nominated themselves to join the new colony and will soon be farewelling Perdan include Apollyon, Atticus, Fabian, Fingal, Iridian, Orion, Thar and WAYLANDER. We salute these pioneers, wish them luck in their journey and hope they know that Perdan will always be a home for them if they need it.

Message sent to the Rulers of this world (10 recipients)

Rulers of the East Continent,

First, I would like to thank King Dekion and Queen Evangerline for making everything possible today. Thanks to them, and the nobles of both realms we where able to create Obsidian Islands here, in the place of Kalmar Islands and Avamar Selective. In the future I hope OI can have a peaceful time with all of you, and work together to make this continent even better now. Sorry for making this short, but there are some important matters I must attend to for my realm to be finished. I look forward to speaking with you all in the future, thank you.

Kalmar city will become the capital of a new realm in the islands surrounding the Kalmar Bay. The new realm, under the leadership of Sir Shady of Old Rancagua, will be known under the name of the Obsidian Islands. Many nobles from both Perdan and Old Rancagua will join the new realm as a renewed sign of dedication between Perdan and Old Rancagua to peace and prosperity for both realms, and their new colony. The formation of the Obsidian Islands will be the culmination and fulfillment of the promise made by Queen Lorraine of Perdan and King Dekion of Old Rancagua to remove the rebels who had infested the small island realm, and restore the lawful government to the islands.}}

headline = Tournament Conflict Abounds|

article = El Cid, former Perdanite, now Ibladeshian has spoken against his former Commander, Marshal Maelg calling him a coward at the Ubent Tournament. El Cid left Perdan after complaining about his tax share (despite maintaining a very minimal unit) and refusing to follow orders from his Marshal. El Cid preferred to stay consistantly in the capital rather than helping with the restoration of the island regions.

Increasingly we are seeing more and more conflict take place at tournaments. What is supposed to be a peaceful gathering of celebration, has become a place to vent frustrations that would usually take place on a battlefield. The reason for this could be nobles wishing to start conflict, or perhaps the value of a tournament has lost its meaning with tournies being thrown regularly for no other reason than as a profit making device and a distraction for bored nobles.

headline = Interview with an Interviewer|

article = Count Ichigo of Zawr, reporter for the Itorunt Informer, The Rampant Lions only remaining competition in the newspaper industry, has been reporting and editing for the controversial paper for over a year. I believe his commitment to keeping abreast of cutting issues makes him a fine candidate for an interview, and so he was approached and graciously accepted.

What are important qualities for a newspaper reporter?

Dedication and objectivity. You have to write consistently, or nobody will read your paper. If you write regularly and objectively, people will come to trust your paper for accurate, timely reporting of the latest news. Of course, each paper will have a slight bias towards its own realm, but that's natural.

Is it braver to tackle topical issues or to ignore them?

Well, it really depends. It's important to get the facts out about important issues, but one must also know when to stop fueling the controversy. What you want is an objective and accurate assessment of the situation.

As a reporter, if you disagree with the stance of your realm, is it inappropriate to publicize this?

Usually, yes. Your loyalty to the realm should be greater than your loyalty to the paper. However, if you feel that the realm is being ruled or controlled unjustly

What are your thoughts on the Fontan vs LoF war?

I personally don't feel that strongly for either realm. True, it has been mentioned that Fontan is reneging on the previous peace treaty and simply trying to take back land long lost to them. It seems that Fontan believes Light of Fountain broke a different treaty. In any case, the conflict is limited to those two realms and doesn't really affect me or the realm of Itorunt. Many people feel strongly for one realm of the other, but I'm pretty neutral on the issue.

Should the war remain between these two realms?

Yes, because this is a simple conflict between those two realms over disagreements in the past about the creation of Light of Fountain and subsequent treaties. There is no need for other realms to get involved.

What are your thoughts of Duke Robert's warning to Ibladesh?

It is a reasonable warning. These words echo the fears of many that such devastation as the Avamarians have brought in the past will occur at the hands of one of our closest allies, Ibladesh. Sorcha's comments on the matter reassure me somewhat, but I still fear for the future of the alliance between our two realms.

How do you feel about the former Avamarians in Ibladesh?

Obviously, I'm wary of them and worry for the future of Ibladesh. If they truly show themselves to be good, there may be a minute chance that they can help improve the world a tiny bit. I wouldn't count on it, however.

Is there anything else you want to say to the Rampant Lion or its readers?

Keep writing! Our papers help inform the masses of what goes on throughout the continent. Remember, knowledge is power! My thanks to Maelg for passing on the interview and to Inara for interviewing me. And of course, my best wishes for the realm of Perdan and all its people.

headline = Fontan Vs Light of Fountain Update|

article= Fontan's campaign against the peaceful nation of Light of Fountain has seemingly ground to a standstill. We have seen Fontan city surrounded in both Negev and An Najaf by approximately 17,000cs of Fontan troops for weeks, while the city remains protected by 28,000cs of stout guardians.

Light of Fountain simply does not have the mobile CS to break through the Fontan force, nor does the Fontan force have the strength to break the city. Some believe Fontan will try to isolate the city into submission, waiting for the citizens to die from starvation - but this is one reporter that remembers the value of a Fontanese word and will not be surprised when they renege on their promised 1 vs 1 war. Heed my words... I must be a visionary (else I know Fontan well :P)

article= Duke Robert of Itorunt has used the tournament in Ibladesh as an opportunity to warn the host nation of the dangers of allowing known rebel leaders, Lalakis, Donna Ragna, Kokur, and Loquan into their realm.[[The Rampant Lion/RobertApril14|[Ref]]] Some interpreted the letter to mean that Itorunt will declare war in the near future because of the nobles' presence, but subsequent messages made it clear that Duke Robert believes war will be inevitable due to future plotting and misbehaving of the ex-Kavamars. Has the good word of Ibladesh encouraged them to change their habits or will Duke Robert's prediction come to pass? Is the future of Ibladesh destined to be consumed by rebellions and mischief because of those to which they've shown compassion? Only time will tell.

headline = Why has Fontan declared war on Light of Fountain?|

article= Merely moments after her election, Chancellor Lilith dropped diplomatic relations with Light of Fountain to war. So I thought I would try to uncover the most asked question, why is Fontan warring Light of Fountain? I have asked around to uncover this answer, but I can't say it is any clearer.

Firstly, Chancellor Lilith proclaims that Light of Fountain is not a legitimate realm. That they betrayed the mother realm through secession. What was Fontan thinking therefore when it signed a peace treaty with Light of Fountain? By doing this they gave validity to the realm of Light of Fountain by entering negotiations and signing the treaty that was to bring forth a friendship between the realms.

Second possible reason, the unexplained attacks across the LoF/Fontan border on murderous settings. Seems Fontan held a referendum on whether they should declare war for this reason, which returned a resounding, almost unanimous 'yes'. Are a few unordered skirmishes the reason for destroying Light of Fountain? Maybe more palpable.

Thirdly, this one was apparently handed to Chancellor Lilith by a helpful ruler. Could it be that they need a new city to finally fulfill their promise of founding New Coimbra? Nice afterthought, but an ironic reasoning to destroy a realm in order to resurrect one.

Now... the fourth reason I have had suggested. Fontan is bored, Fontan wants to broaden its already expansive borders and Light of Fountain is a weaker opponent. Muttered by most of the continent already, could this be the truth of the matter?

Four reasons, each equally unacceptable in my opinion - how will the continent react to this war? Which realms will standby and watch one realm expand its borders mercilessly, while another is destroyed? Only time will tell.

Update:

Two new reasons have surfaced to my knowledge, just showing how unclear the reasons for this war are:

Fifth, that Light of Fountain broke the treaty by not relocating. Well, no stipulations on timing that I can see, and Light of Fountain have followed the treaty to every letter of the word. of Fountain Formation

Sixth, and can they get any more absurd? The ex-Avamarian influence in Light of Fountain is enough reason for Fontan to war Light of Fountain. Even trying to ignore the fact that Fontan entered into discussions for a defensive alliance with Donna Ragna when she was Chancellor of KI AND ignoring the fact that Fontan offered them sanctuary after the destruction of their illegitimate realm on the islands.(1) Ignoring both these facts in which Fontan have extended friendship to the ex-islanders, there is also the point that only 8 LoF nobles are from the usurping realms. The rest of LoF are honourable nobles, who have upheld and honoured a treaty signed with their mother realm. So this is surely not the reason.

So again, which of the six reasons is it? Lets hope the murky waters surrounding Fontan's reasoning clear one day soon before they are clouded further with the blood of innocent men.

TRL Header.png

In every land, in every age, there are always tyrants that will prey on those who are weaker than themselves. Given free reign, they will spread their lies across the land. They build empires on a foundation of deceit, manipulation, and boundless ambition. Left unchecked these tyrants will devastate East Island, and all it's inhabitants, in wars without end. The Kingdom of Perdan will not stand idly by while the East Island is led into ruin and destruction. The Rampant Lion will stand forth as a beacon of truth regarding the travails of Perdan as it seeks to oppose those who would bring destruction upon our lands. As events in Perdan unfold, they will be chronicled here so all people on the East Island have access to an accurate, fair accounting of the events taking place in our world.
The only thing necessary
for the triumph [of evil]
is for good men to do nothing.

Undead Invasion?
The East Island has recently come under attack by several hordes of undead. These vile creatures have appeared across the continent, with strong leaders claiming some enigmatic names. At this time, the following seven leaders have been discovered:
 • Detecting in Dayr
 • Discovering in Abadan
 • Investigating in Wasteland
 • Looking in Gadlock
 • Revealing in Greatbridge
 • Scouting in Meuse
 • Searching in Skezard

They speak in unintelligible languages, which the scholars are attempting to translate. Some of the messages they deliver can be read here. We will provide more details as they become available.
