Brothers and sisters of the faith,

Most of you have been involved in this war, one way or another and many of you are currently fighting in it. For some this will be the first time to ever behold battle and some of the horrors you may see there. Others have seen this too often, however it will always remain an impressive thing and a dangerous one. Dangerous due to many reasons.

The simplest of dangers is of course the possibility to get a sword stuck in your body and suffer a mortal wound or be hit by an arrow. Especially for those who are new I would urge you to watch out. All of you have had a good training I am certain, yet your first huge battles will always be impressive. Stay close to a more experienced nobles and keep your men close with you. While honour and valour are important on the field, do not confuse this with foolish charges and the needless risking of your life. Honour and valour must be uphold, but do not throw your life away.

A second more subtle problem is that you may loose yourself or your faith in a war. Men have grown mad due to war. Some grow much anger and let this anger consume them. This anger may slighly aid in battle, it also lets you make mistakes even in battle. However if you allow this anger to grow inside you, in the end it will destroy all you hold dear. Anger will cloud your mind and will change how you see everything, it will lead you astray. You will loose all sense of the reality and you will walk away of all Sartan did achieve and values so much, a pure mind, a pure soul. A soul without strong emotions such as anger which clouds your judgement and soul itself.

Fight with honour my friends, but be aware, always.

In faith,

Aeneas Quintus Ennius of Arcaea, Priest of The Church of Sartan Cardinal of The Church of Sartan, Baron of Itomazh
