Please post feedback regarding The Dream to this page. Feedback does not mean discussion. Just post what you liked, what you missed, if it was fun - basically, what your experience was (without spoilers, please!) so I know what to do again and what not. --Tom 21:25, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

In case anyone cares - downloads so far, i.e. within about 18 hours of release:

  • 18 Mac downloads
  • 330 Windows downloads

I would like that you could log in multiple times a day and having your 30 minute counter just go down. Your last place should be saved. Especially good for playing at work or during a busy time. Overall experience was fun! I liked it and will surely do another mission tomorrow. The idea about finding things is good. But inventory should be there... A small one, a backpack. I like that the game does not have a magic GPS or compass. More realistic. A history of said text would be awesome! I can confirm that in Wine 1.1.42 the mouse doesn't work. Any chance of just adding in rotational (instead of strafe) keys? That would do a lot to make the game work. It is pretty nice looking, however. Well done. J.Roberts 23:50, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately, it isn't. The scripts I use query the mouse directly, without going through Unity's input abstraction. Sorry. I'll think about this next time, though. Maybe I find a solution then. --Tom 05:04, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

I really enjoyed the scenery, especially when standing at a high point and looking all around. I also liked being able to move through the trees to enter the village from the back instead of following the path--basically the freedom of moving wherever you want (until you hit an invisible wall). --Xarnelf 01:43, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

The only invisible walls are at the edge of the game world, so you don't fall off. --Tom 05:31, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

I assume the big hill beyond the village is climb-able; dunno if it was my computer or what but the game froze up on me as I attempted to go from the field of tiny trees by the low wall up the big hill. Maybe just my computer. Big downer though, because I'd only been playing for 10 minutes. Being able to log in later in the day to finish those last 20 minutes would be a nice feature. Amazing! I have to say that the level of graphical work and scenery was simply stunning. Trying to keep in mind this is supposed to be from the same 'world' that Battlemaster takes place in (so I assume), it was quite astonishing to see the distant hills, the grass, the trees, the mountains, the textures, the buildings -- very impressive for such an early version of this mini-game. To cut to the point; I would love to see more of this. Whether it expands to become multiplayer, or just purely a singleplayer experience, or somehow the best of both worlds, I would definitely be interested in playing more of this, just to see where it goes.

Some brief notes: The music/background tracks are stunningly immersive, but they do give me the slight creeps and eerie feelings from time to time. The birds chirping at the beginning when you start the 'dream' is a bit repetitive and adds to the eerie feeling as well. If that is the effect you are going for though with this, you have done it well. I was quite spooked out by the time I reached one part of the map -- I was half expecting moaning zombies/undead/monsters or something terrifying to happen (And which still could happen, for all I know).

Awesome, I made a wiki account just a few minutes ago to log on and write this. Hope to hear more about this. I took about 10 screenshots I'd love to share someplace, but it would take too long to upload to the wiki anyways, and there are no other places to discuss/communicate about this except here on the wiki. The graphics were impressive, and the background was great. When moving I had some problems with the game freezing, but for no more than a second. I would love to see more like this in the future.--Lane malone

Great Graphics and sound. Is there a way to adjust volume in the game? The voice where a bit hard to hear at first. It is straight forward enough. I think that it would be nice to be able to interact with npcs again to re-hear what they said last or infromation about item you have already collected. Doddjh

Just two little nit-picks: 1) The volume was a little low to start with, so low that I only realised the man who greets you was talking to me towards the end of his little speech. 2) I'd like to be able to log in/out as many times a day until I hit my 30 minute limit. Great idea and love the idea of the app, the only issue I have is thus far I've not even been able to play it since my computer crashed on me the second I logged in and when I reconfigured things to resolve that issue I was told that I couldn't log in again because I had already done so and I would have to wait 24 hours to do so again. Limiting the program to 30 minuets is nice but it's not at all right that just because of a technical glitch such as your computer crashing or the internet going out while you're doing a "dream" you have to forfeit actually completing that 30 minuet sequence. Basically I guess I'm saying the same as Nathan, we should be able to log in or out as many times as we want within that 30 minuet or so period and when the quest or whatever is done for that dream sequence you can't log in again for another 24 hours. I agree in theory. Unfortunately, that is technologically very different to solve. Catching you once at login is easy, keeping track of your playing time on the server isn't - it would open a whole can of possibilities to cheat it or require a constant online connection while playing, neither is something I like. So, sorry for that, you'll have to bear it. Since it's a single-player game, you don't lose anything except having to wait for a day. --Tom 15:41, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Is there a way to track how the player exits? As in completion or death vs crash vs closeing or logging out? I think it might be reasonable to reset the log in if possible in the case of a crash but not the other examples. Doddjh
Not reliably. How can I know if the game crashed or you force-closed it, for example? As I said, the solution is a constant online connection. I don't want to do that. As I'm a one-man game studio, these are some of the rough edges that I can't fix with my available resources (i.e.: me). :-) --Tom 20:14, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Speaking as one who has dabbled in such endeavors I have to say quite impressive for something done as a hobby, and I would certainly say I would love to see more. One little nitpick, the options for changing graphics quality and screen resolution in the Options menu don't seem to work. My first play through lasted all of 15 seconds as I couldn't do this and exited to try and do it. I love the way the music and overly bright lighting create a dream like atmosphere, nice touch. --Athins 05:39, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

I am having problems logging into the Dream. It tells me login failed, user unknown. I completed two quests yesterday, wanted to finish the third one today. I tried changing my app key, which didn't work. I am on a different computer, if that matters. Ceorl 09:17, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Two very very minors nitpicks (for the Mac OS version, didn't try windows):

-The game seems to hink I have an azerty keyboard, while I have a qwertz. It may be that this is due to my settings, but I doubt it since everything well works fine. Some software only check the language and not the keyboard, and think everyone who speaks french uses a french keyboard. If that's the case, you're in good company: Adobe Illustrator does this too.
-Pasting does not work. Since the game is full screen, it forced me to write down the application key on a piece of paer. It is long. :-)

Other than that, it looks fantastic. Thanks to all those who made this happen. vonGenf
