Shouldn't Expelled Diplomats be above Closed Borders, being an apparently harsher line to take? --The1exile 16:52, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Could be, I suppose. I imagine Calvin November put them on this list in the same order they are presented IG. I do not have an Ambassador character to check that. --Indirik 18:08, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
That is correct. I included them as they appear in-game. --Calvin November t/c on 15:41, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
The order in-game is alphabetical, it does not have any specific meaning. --Tom 19:19, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Travel Required?

After a Treaty has been proposed by an Ambassador, the Ruler (or, presumably, another Ambassador) has to sign the Treaty. If the Treaty involves another realm, such as a "Facilities Sharing" Treaty (not all Treaties require travel), the Ambassador (or, presumably, the Ruler) must travel to the other realm to officially propose the Treaty. At least that's what appears to be required. Can someone confirm or clarify this? --Calvin November t/c on 15:50, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Yes, that's correct. It was, in fact, a major part of the point of the new system. --Anaris 15:52, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! /em starts traveling! --Calvin November t/c on 16:25, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Just FYI, my character did not have to travel to a partner realm's capital to propose a treaty. Traveling to any of their regions seems to do. --Calvin November t/c on 17:54, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Don't you have to be in the same region as the ruler, or at least an ambassador from the other realm? vonGenf 08:06, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
I don't believe so, but I will attempt to verify this. As there's no means for Ambassadors to message one another in-game, it would be extremely laborious to arrange a meeting in a specific region at a specific time and seem counter to BattleMaster's current play-style. --Calvin November t/c on 16:43, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Eventually, diplomats and/or Ambassadors are supposed to be able to contact their fellows across realm-borders, but that hasn't been implemented yet.Shwartzring 17:17, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
The lack of this option - even during this partial implementation - has severely hamstrung the Enhanced Diplomacy aspect of BM. --Calvin November t/c on 19:00, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
No, you do not have to be in the same region. However, to propose a treaty to Realm X, you must be inside the borders of Realm X. --Anaris 17:26, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Discussions on who fights when

Matt's suggestions Your realm will attack under the following circumstances: 1. If defenders fall under current Conquest, Plundering, Raid, or War (CPRW) against (bearing in mind that C and R are region specific) (all unit settings) AND you would not violate a Peace Treaty by attacking, or, 2. If you have /no/ treaties with defenders and at least one unit of your realm is not on defensive (or if you have a Cease Fire and at least one on aggressive), or, 3. If you have an Alliance with an attacking realm, or, 4. If you have a Defensive Pact with an attacking realm and would break no treaties by attacking, or, 5. If any troop of your realm has Murderous settings.

Your realm will defend under the following circumstances: 1. If they hold the region, or, 2. If they have an Alliance with a defending realm, or, 3. If they have a Defensive Pact with a defending realm and would not break a treaty by joining defenders.

Diplomatic Immunity by default?

Expelled Diplomats - A declaration that diplomats of the target no longer enjoy immunity.

If no 'Expelled Diplomats' treaty has been declared, do diplomats "enjoy immunity" when traveling through realms that their home realm is NOT at “Peace", “Allied” or “Federated” with?

The wording, reproduced above, seems to indicate that they do (while not commanding troops, presumably). --Calvin November t/c on 21:11, 19 August 2011 (CEST)

That is correct, you have Diplomatic Immunity by default in hostile realms. Shwartzring 22:46, 19 August 2011 (CEST)
About a week ago, my diplomat/ambassador character was arrested while traveling through a hostile region (in the Colonies) while commanding no troops. The hostile realm that controls the region has not declared a 'Closed Borders' nor an 'Expelled Diplomats' treaty against my character's realm. It seems that if Shwartzring is correct, this has not yet been implemented fully on the Colonies or it is bugged. Can anyone else confirm? --Calvin November t/c on 18:19, 7 December 2011 (CET)
None of the Enhanced Diplomacy has been fully implemented. None of the treaties do anything. They never have. --Anaris 19:15, 7 December 2011 (CET)
When Tom removed the {{{new_feature}}} tag from Enhanced Diplomacy, a different impression was communicated. If not fully implemented, or at least implemented in part, why was the tag removed? What features have been implemented, if any? --Calvin November t/c on 19:11, 20 January 2012 (CET)
Alas, none. Removing the New Feature tag was more removing the "feature" than the "new", as it's just a planned feature at the moment. Shwartzring 09:12, 21 January 2012 (CET)
