Amazing work with the pictures! I say that the page is rather well pretty-fyied now :) I knew the religion was awesome before, but now we also have some nice images to look at. --Arakiss 15:56, 24 September 2011 (CEST)

Ecclesiastical Reforms

Reasons

Confusions with the terms "Gods" and "Higher/Lower Spirits", specially when communicating with other religions.
Lack of "flesh" in the Higher Spirits.
Ambivalence in Roleplays regarding the nature and attitude of the Gods, some more concretely active, some more ethereal and abstract.
Not enough separation between the several Lower Spirits.

Divine Hierarchy

Gods become Dei supera, Limbi, Dei finis or Superior Gods, Gods of the End.
Abstract and ethereal entities of superior power which do not mingle in our business, busy with more elevated affairs. Akin to the Greek Primordials. Guardians of the edge of the Universe.

Higher Spirits become Dei maiora, Caelites, Dei caelitis or Greater Gods, Celestial Gods, Celestials.
Closer to Slavic deities, few see glimpses of them or of their actions. Akin to the Greek Olympians. Associated with the Sun (Solar Gods) and the Stars (Astral Gods).

Stronger Lower Spirits become Deitates mortales or Mortal Deities.
Demons and demigods inhabiting our world.

Weaker Lower Spirits become Phantasma minora or Lower/Minor Spirits.
Animistic entities populating our world.

Saints become Ascended (Ascensa).

Ancestors or Elders.

Mortal Hierarchy

Possibilities:

1) Emulating the (pre-Christian) Roman Church. Umbrella of several independent cults united by common respect and a College (Collegium Pontificum).
Pontifex Maximus: Main representative of the Church.
Flamen superior: Chief cleric to a Deus superior.
Flamen maior: Chief cleric to a Deus maior.
Augur: Priest.
Epulones: Patrons.

1.b)

Ignis Oraculum/Incendia Oraculum: instead of Flamen Superior.
Candeo Oraculum: instead of Flamen maior.

The purpose of this suggestion is to highlight the actual role these positions will have. Many of us have had contact with the gods (or so we think,) and those who introduce or represent a god should be those who have the most contact. With that in mind, an oracle is someone who gives prophesy or wise council inspired by the gods, holding some sort of special gift or zealotry. Put together with our own church, and you have an oracle who directly offers council or even prophecies from their specific god. The title itself also keeps to the flame aspect of the church: Ignis/Incendia (fire) invokes a much stronger image of flame than Candeo (spark), maintaining the hierarchy JP is seeking to create.

2) Other possible titles: High, Grand, Great, Greater, Proto, Arch, Venerable, Ecclesiastical, Lay + Cleric, Priest, Prelate, Deacon, Prior, Provost, Primarch.
And many more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Ecclesiastical_titles

3) Continue with the Fire-themed titles, possibly changing them.

4) [Complementary] Honorifics: Ardor Divinus/Divina, Fulgor Divinus/Divina, Flammiger (Flame Bearing).

Church Language

The basic idea would be to have two names for each key-concept, one in Latin and one in English, its translation, so that everything can be referred to using a RPed either erudite or vulgar approach.

Potential new gods

For those who wish to introduce them.

Wokenod

The Outcast is commonly envisioned as a man in travelling clothes, usually ragged and in poor conditions. He is the patron of those who seek vengeance and retaliation.

Nezhe

The Untainted often receives the representation of the stereotypical knight-in-shinning-armor. He is the paladin of honor and his way is followed only by the most pious Heroes and Cavaliers.

Calrund

The Bright is pictured as a man of varying ages wearing ostentatious garments and jewelry. He is the representation of skill and prowess, bless those who seek to improve and test themselves. He is associated with the glory and fame of those who out stand others in their chosen field, usually the skill with the sword and the lance.

Ibliak

The Shadow is depicted as a man partially covered in shadows, and completely concealed in dark garments, only a hand wielding a dagger exposed. He is the patron of assassination and stealth, and is naturally worshiped by infiltrators.

Myntax

The Wild is usually depicted as an unadorned gray wolf. He is reported to appear as different animals depending on the location he is in, and is also reported to often appear as animals that suggest something about the future of the follower he appears to. He is the embodiment of nature and unpredictability.

Awa

Awa has two aspects, each of which has a different representation. The Sweet is represented as a rosy-cheeked, very young girl, with black hair, and a cream-colored dress. The Fury is represented as a middle-aged woman with black hair who wears armor and carries an assortment of weapons. Awa is the goddess of the sea, and her aspect is said to change with the tides.

Hweika

The Word is represented as a short gray-haired man, who carries a scroll and quill. He is the god of all stories.
