The Summons

Dear Alaric,

I hope this letter finds you well and in good health. As you know, it has been some time since I set out from Solari manor to join the ranks of our realm’s hierarchy, and while my time serving our home kingdom has indeed been a success, I’m afraid I must leave these shores for the uncharted world of Dwilight. Do not bother to ask how or why, though I think you know me well enough not to try. Explaining my actions is not the purpose of this letter; rather, I must now ask something of you. Minas Ithil, though strong and proud, is threatened by a precarious political situation. Not only does the constant war with Norland provide an immediate threat to our borders but several wars in the south against our allies could potentially draw our home into an even greater conflict. Therefore, I must now ask you to take my place in Minas Ithil’s hierarchy in defense of our realm. Though you are young, I have full confidence in your abilities and firmly believe you ready to step out onto the greater stage of Atamara’s nobility. I have already assembled a group of men-at-arms for your use; they will await you in the province of Cantervern. Once you have acquired them seek out Sir Elrohir Undomiel, Duke of Shanandoah. He will ensure you have sufficient income and a place in Minas Ithil’s vast army. From then on your fate is your own. Good luck, my brother, in this task I have set before you. May the light that has guided your path all these years illuminate your way to victory over your enemies.
