Roleplaying

Main article: Roleplaying

One of the core aspects of BattleMaster is roleplaying. Roleplaying means that you play your character as he acts, adding flavour to his in-game actions or even describing things he does that have no in-game effect. Roleplaying adds depth to the game and makes it more interesting to interact with other players. The level of roleplaying can go from very light to long and intense, the choice is yours. The number one rule to roleplaying is reality is defined by the game engine. If you engage in a duel with another character and the game says you lost then you lost. Two of the most frequently used abbreviations in roleplaying is: IC (In-Character) and OoC (Out-of-Character.) IC means that everything that is written is coming from your character. OoC means that everything being written is from you the player. The distinction between the two is very important. Things that happen In-Character should stay In-Character and things that are Out-of-Character should stay Out-of-Character.

Guild

Main article: Guild

Guilds allow like-minded characters to band together in a common cause, regardless of their realm. A guild is formed by a local lord who constructs a guild-house within his own region at a certain expense. Other nobles of any realm or class, or even commoners (adventurers), are then free to join the guild if they so desire - after paying the entrance fee of course (if one is set). Potential members are required to travel to the guild-house in particular to join. However, once the first guild-house is built, more may be created elsewhere by fellow members who command regions, spreading the influence and reach of the guild throughout the island.
